Saturated fat

Isn't coconut oil one of those saturated fats that is very unhealthy to eat? Putting on your skin is one thing ... but even though it is edible, I'm not so sure you should.

No, the fats in coconut oil, granted you get a good one, are necessary and all natural. There aren't any hydrogenated fats or anything like that, so some fats are allright. I don't know about using it for weight loss, but I do know that if you cook with it rather than olive oil, it's healthier. Haha but mine was expensive so like hell am I wasting it on food. My skin needs it more!

Well from what I've been reading, studies have been done where farmers fed livestock coconut oil to fatten them up. Instead, they ended up with leaner livestock. This loss in weight is from the oil stimulating the metabolism to work better. I've also read that coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid that gets sent directly to your liver and converted to energy instead of being stored as fat whereas long chain fatty acids (veg. oils) are harder to break down and can get stored as fat. This is just what I've read, I am in no way an expert on this but it is something to think about. I just wanted to considered it as a possibility in the aid of weight management seeing as there's lots of articles out there supporting the positives of coconut oil in all aspects of health (and yes! definately a postive for skin health too!).

Coconut Oil.....Grossly Misconceived!!!

Coconut oil has been misconceived for decades. It is saturated fat, yes, but is actually a "medium chain fatty acid" that is better for you than ANY other. Medium chain fatty acids are burned off for energy long before they have the ability to store themselves in your body the way that Long Chain Fatty acids (saturated ANIMAL/DAIRY fat) do. Those are the saturated fats that you should be staying away from. Coconut Oil, Palm Fruit Oil and other extra virgin tropical oils are actually the best for you to consume. I highly suggest reading Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife as well as other medical reports that are finding the actual truth behind this oil. It sheds light on how amazing this oil is for you, inside and out. It does even more good inside than it has been doing outside for most of us that have been using it for kp. It IS found to naturally speed up the metabolism, which in turn helps you lose extra and maintain a healthy weight. There are so many other things that it delivers, that I do not have space to get into. As I said, I recommend doing some further research on Coconut Oil. I cannot express more that this oil is truly a Miracle. It has changed my family's lives since doing so.....and I truly believe that you will find the same result. Hope this helps. Take Care everyone.

I've just bought a 500ml jar (at $40!!). I'm just so irritated with my KP that I don't care about how much I spent as long as it works =)

The only thing that makes me a bit upset is that if I stop using it, my KP automatically worsens. I'm a very lazy person, haha, so I don't remember to put on the coconut oil everytime I shower. And it gets tedious after a while. But I always convince myself it's worth it.

try your best not to pick.....it is easier said than done for some of us....but it is better in the long run if you want to avoid major scarring. It is bad enough that we have all these red keratin filled bumps.....it is much worse when you add scars. Coconut oil is the ONLY thing that has been taking care of my kp. I have tried a million different things. But, no matter what you find that works for you, it seems that if you aren't stringently religious about the routine, kp comes back with a fury. So, whatever you do.....don't pick and don't neglect whatever ritual you find for yourself. KP is a b&^%#......try not to anger it!!! =)

Sorry, that is one thing that I have not used. However, we are all looking for a cure......that at this time......does not exist. There are plenty of things that people here have found to manage it....but nothing that will get rid of it completely....forever. That is why I said not to abandon your routine....whatever it is that you find.....or it will come back strong. One day, hopefully, we will all find that ONE perfect answer that will clear our skin forever and this evil will never rear it's ugly head again. Until then, good luck everyone and keep your heads up!

KP has to do with your pores and follicles not working as they should. In essence, they get clogged, so the skincare regimen is to exfoliate and moisturize. However, it is not so simple, as what we use to exfoliate/cleanse, and what we use to moisturize seems to make a big difference, and that is where everyone's experience here is not consistent. (Our bodies all differ.) Anyway, bottom line, some or many of those KP spots will be hair follicles, so that is normal.

What exactly is this gel you are referring to?
