Hi Everyone,
I haven't tried the coconut oil. However, I did find a coconut oil based soap that I love. It leaves you squeaky clean ( you literally squeak). I also have a water softener now, and I think that has really improved the texture of my skin. The soap is called Kirk's Original Coco Castile soap. It is about $.85/bar, and I get it at my grocery store. You can also order online at www.kirksnatural.com I love the stuff. It is al natural, so it is a great alternative. |

has anyone used Aubrey Organics products? I have just been doing some research on paraben free soaps/lotions, for myself and my daughter. It seems like they really know what they are talking about as far as natural skin care for those prone to allergies/skin conditions. Just wanted to know if anyone could give any testimonial from using their products before I buy. Or if anyone can suggest any other companies with great body lotions/skin care products without the nasty chemicals.
Also.....today....I noticed that the coconut oil absorbed super-quickly and then my skin seemed a little dry/ashy. Today is the only day that this has happened so far. The oil has been, up to this point, been very hydrating. Is anyone experiencing the same thing? I am wondering what changed? I haven't changed the routine that I have been doing for the past week or so. Would it be alright for me to put on body lotion after the oil absorbs, like mid-day or something? I think it would be fine.....just wanted some outside imput. Thanks so much. |

Hi there, me too has had KP for like half my life already. But never found something that worked and sorta gave up. Recently with the nice weather n such it started to irrtate me that I could never wear some shirts that I'd love to.
I've tried to search on the internet for info, but never knew it had a name: "KP" from there a world has opened and I found this lovely place. I'm really interested in trying the coconut oil, but I couldn't find anything like it at the stores here in Holland. The closest thing I found is this at some herbal shop, but it's still not coconut oil that you people describe here. Can you guys have a look at http://www.inecto.com/Pages/cocopage1.html and tell me which item I should try? like would the lotion come close to the pure oil that helped you guys to get rid of KP? all advice welcome ![]() |

I thinking about trying the coconut oil. But does it matter if I use plain old coconut oil or should I go for the Extra Virgin coconut oil? Does anyone know whether or not Trader Joe's carries coconut oil? I don't feel like ordering online however, TJ's is a bit of a drive for me. Would be a disappointment to drive there and find out they don't carry coconut oil.

ok so this morning I woke up to skin that was really smooth. Visibly the skin still looks patchy ( i can see dots everywhere) but when I touch it it almost feels like the skin I have on the bottom side of my arms (the unaffected side). I am so amazed. Right now I'm paranoid that the skin will rebound or the oil will stop it's effectiveness and it will all come back and be rough again. I have faith though that this will continually get better and as new flareups subside, the "spots" will start to fade. yay!

Boodle 1977-
Search on makeup alley for their products. It depends on what you are interestd in, but it looks like they have pretty mixed reviews. If you have never been to makeup alley, it is a great place to search for products so you do not waste alot of time or $$$. |

Terry:
the coconut oil can be found in a grocery store. It's food grade you need. If your store has an indian food section, that's the most likely place you will find it. |

Thanks so much for the info. I will check it out.
ahyc - as far as Trader Joe's carrying the coconut oil, I do not know for sure....but I do not think so. If it is going to be that major of a drive, I would call them first to find out for sure. I know that Wild Oats, Whole Foods carry it for sure (cheaper at Wild Oats)and probably any other co-op or health food store. You should definitely use Organic Extra Virgin, as it is the first pressing and is completely unrefined, so will have the most potency/effectiveness. It is cooking grade oil. You can use any brand that you can get your hands on. Most of what I have read here and what I am using myself, is Nutiva brand. Hope this helps. |

I buy this stuff - I get it in my local healthfood store - you can order online and looks like they deliver overseas .. I'm only in UK, so it shouldn't cost too much to post to the Netherlands. http://www.bamberwatson.co.uk/buy_vi...conut_oil.html |

Thanks to all for the boost and tips on results! I am still using the coconut oil and I am once again hopeful. I have been taking my prenatal vitamins because of breastfeeding. But I have recently stopped and I am now looking for another multivitamin to start taking. Any tips on that?
Boodle1977~ I also noticed how the oil leaves my skin sort of dry. It has from the beginning. That is one reason that made me unsure of the product. I do use Malibu Hemp moisturizing body lotion later in the day which is mostly coconut oil as well as hemp seed oil, sesame oil, jojoba oil, sunflower seed oil, olive oil, tea tree oil, and other ingredients as well, including parabens. But, even so, it does moisturize very well and doesn't contain mineral oil or petrolatum. I bought it at Wal-Mart for around $4. |

Thanks for the info Flo, I found a few shops selling coconut oil now. under the name "kokos" no less. (was searching for cocos at first and that didn't give me any useful links)
it's pretty pricey here though, I might try to find some smaller buckets on ebay to try out first. Getting a full liter (30oz?) would be a waste if it doesn't work for me. |

ahyc;
i couldn't find the extra virgin coconut oil at first, so i bought "plain" coconut oil and it has been working great for me. My skin has defnitely looked better since i've started taking my prenatal vitamins again too!! So that is what i will continue doing. But i have since ordered the extra virgin stuff too... anything to make progresss quicker! |

hello all!
My skins is clearing up, i'm now getting the "*****ly bumps" but like some have commented, i really think it's part of the healing process getting all the stuff out of the "clogged pores." But i still occasionally pick at a few that are left, but when i do i notice that i get hard gunk (the *****ly stuff) out and then out pops a really curly hair, like it was ingrown because of the folicule being clogged. Has anyone else noticed this? And if so, does it make you wonder if some sort of ingrown hair medicine/application will help? Any thoughts? |

But, even so, it does moisturize very well and doesn't contain mineral oil or petrolatum. I bought it at Wal-Mart for around $4.
