My KP is nearly gone!
I am a 17 year old female with KP on my upper arms and upper back. I have had it my entire life and it has always been a nuissance. I have gone to dermatologists, tried their expensive (and useless) lotions, tried tanning, tried exfoliating, tried covering my arms in aloe vera, tried every lotion known to man kind, and much more. I am going to attend my senior prom this Saturday and because I am wearing a halter-style dress I was concerned about my KP and planned to try to cover it up somehow. However, my mother showed me a magazine article that mentioned something about 'bumps on the arms' and a connection between a need for omega-3 stuff and an increased risk for Alzheimers. We went to Wal-Mart, purchased some inexpensive fish oil capsules with omega-3 in them, and I went home and took two. We also purchased some acidophilus pills (the bacteria found in yogurt) and I took two of those too. The very next day, I noticed that my KP bumps were a bit smaller. I didn't really think anything of it and I went about my day. Well, I began taking the pills on Sunday and today is Thursday. As of right now, the KP is almost non-existant. I am not sure if it will go away completely, but at least it is not so easily noticed now. The only other KP-related thing I do for myself is apply a lot of Eucerin lotion. I have been doing that for about two months now. The Eurcerin lotion improved my KP somewhat but never this much. I really hope fish oil with omega-3 or acidophilus helps someone else!!

It's interesting that acidophilus helps with the absorption of calcium and of course aids in digestion and lactose intolerance...and in light of the other thread on this ... I'm going to get some and restart taking the fish oil...the only thing is- sometimes I burp up a little and I makes me sick b/c I HATE any type of sea food...LOL..Sorry to be gross...
So glad you're seeing improvement! ![]() |

Thats awesome news amyluna. probiotics are really good they hell with the absorption and assimilation of nutrients. perhaps this was a cause to your kp because you had bad bacteria in ur gut therefore not allowing u to absorb your nutrients adequately

Not to rain on anyone's parade but I have been taking Omega 3 supplements as well as coral calcium, acidophilus and vitamin A daily for over a year and my KP has not improved one iota.
Then again I did poison myself with accutane 11 years ago and God only knows what kind of irreperable damage I may have done to my body. |

Supplements take months before they have any effect on the skin.
