KP and Leg Waxing

Hi everyone,

A Lil intro first, Im Laura, 21 from the UK and found your lovely website a few months and go, and found out what the rashes on my arms and legs are! (I thought it was because I was fat )

Ne way, After many years of arguments with razors I decided to have my legs waxed today...and I didnt have KP on my lower legs, or I didnt apear to! Now I have a massive KP rash all over the bottom of my legs and the top half look no different.

So, my question is, what are other peoples experience of leg waxing?

Sorry, if this has been posted before, but I did scale through about 25 pages first.

Thanx
Laura xxx

it's normal to have red dots after waxing, it could be just irritated skin and not kp.

But i've just read that you have it on your arms as well...i suppose you don't shave or wax there right? Well, i guess i can say welcome to the kp club then...i've had bad experiences with waxing as well.legs turn out red as hell, though it gets a bit better the next day.my problem with waxing is that i eventually (when the hairs start growing back) end up with ingrown hairs and more bumps-which really suks
my advice is to wait until tomorrow to see if the situation gets better, otherwise just stop with the waxing
have you ever considered laser treatment? I personally can't afford it but if i could i wouldn't wait another day!

Hmm Ive read a lot about laser treatment...If only my student load would stretch that far! I do have problems with ingrown hairs around my ankle area, but my skin seams to hate shaving with a passion, so I decided to try waxing, coz I thought there would be no harm in trying. Unless maybe Ive had the KP all along on my lower legs, but the waxing brings it up stronger and hopefully it will go down by 2morro, and I will be able to sum up which is best shaving or waxing.

Hot Wax is a bad, bad idea

I discovered hot wax on a visit to cyprus, once. I loved it coz it could remove the tiniest of stubble fast. For 15 years, I bought endless supplies by a zillion sources. Guess what?
I developed Bad KP on all my legs and
I ended up with a hirsutism problem

Hot wax activates the hair follicle making the hair stronger and and dilates the pore of which the hair is springing. This means more obvious KP

Now, the best alternative is : SUGARING

Sugaring removes top layer of skin in the process, makes hair grow finer and weaker, and help make keep your KP under check if you sugar regularly

Best of luck!

I am glad to find someone else who has KP on their lower legs, I have it really bad on my lower legs but not too bad on my arms or elsewhere. I have stopped waxing, now epilate, was told I was epilating my legs wrong way so that hasn't helped, I find it alot cheaper and less painful than waxing. Am stuck at what to try because everyone is recommending different products etc!

hi i tried waxing and the same thing happend to me i got a rash and red bumps i think it just means im allergic to waxing but the kp makes it worse, when the hairs start to grow back the rash appears. i get a rash when i shave too and the bumps get worse so im having problems knowing what hair removal technique to use.

Thumbs up No to waxing and shaving.....BABYLISS IS BEST...

I have found the best method of hair removal to be to use the 'BABYLISS SIMPLY SMOOTH HAIR REMOVAL BUFFER' , as it does not cause any aggravation and leaves my skin a lot smoother. However, it does not remove 100% of the hair and for the remaining I use an epilator.

Hope this helps!

FANTASTIC site!!!
