Yes, exfoliating glove is the same thing. I use glycerin soap and any type of Apricot scrub in the shower. Once a week I will apply the benzoil peroxide at night. It dries a bit, but improves the appearance. I have had kp since I was 5 y/o and have tried everything. I have found that kp becomes resistant to treatment and a combo of treatments works best. In addition to the above treatment, I apply keralyt gel to my arms and cover with plastic wrap at night. Do this for 3 nights and scrub in the shower. Your skin will peel and become red but will eventually heal. When healed, begin the benzoil peroxide treatment and continue scrubbing in the shower daily. I have had kp on my face, thighs, and arms. It has disappeared from my legs and face but continues to flare on my arms. When I am strict with the above treatment, my arms clear about 90%. Hope this helps!

where do you buy this benzoil peroxide? I looked for it everywhere but couldn't find anything even close to it sometimes it's really frustrating trying to find the products suggested on this board

Benzoyl Peroxid is for acne treatment and doesn't improve KP at all. It will just dry up your skin. Trust me I've tried it for weeks and it just made it worse.

True that! It dries your skin out, which is the WORST thing for KP, and acne and KP are caused by different things, so benzoyl peroxide won't affect the KP, unless you also have acne in that area.

However, you can try cleansers or toners that have salicylic acid in them. And then moisturize frequently with a lotion that contains urea as one of the main ingredients. You'll just have to do some serious label reading at the drug store to figure out which ones have it (I found some Eucerin Intensive hand lotion that has it).

I think the brown spots you are talking about might be scars? Do you go in the sun alot? Because if you have a scab or sore or recently picked KP bump, and you expose it to sunlight, the scar will actually "tan" and forever be darker. So try not to expose the KP to sunlight, or use a lot of sunscreen.

I have a huge dark brown scar on my knee, from when I took a trip over my mountain bike handlebars, and then took a trip to Las Vegas & had better things to do than to cover or protect the healing skin from the sun.

If you exfoliate in the shower, benzoyl peroxide does not dry your skin and it does improve the appearance. A dermatologist recommended it to me years ago. You can't use it alone. KP is genetic condition, causing the skin not to exfoliate correctly. It isn't caused by dry skin. In fact, some lotions irritate KP, clog pores, and make the appearance worse. I have no redness, no brown spots, and smooth appearing skin.

I've been using it for two years know to treat acne and I know that it dries up skin. That's the reason why I have to use creams in the morning.
It is also not strong enough to treat KP at all. Like I said it will make it worse.

I occasionally reply to threads to apply to me but to thread that don't apply to me like "birth control pill" thread I don't reply because I don't take birth control. I spread my posts evenly in all the threads lol

You are right, some lotions (e.g., baby oil) are not good to use, and KP is not caused by dry skin. But dry skin makes it worse for many of us (that is why mine gets worse in the winter). And using lotions that contain lactic acid, or salicylic acid, or alpha/beta hydroxy acid, or urea, actually helps reduce it by keeping the skin moist so it will "slough" off easier.

You are lucky!! I am one of the 20% for whom KP gets worse as they age...

But I guess that is good news for some of the youngsters out there: 80% of those with KP it gets better the older you get, usually by the time you hit 30!
