Bad News! Chemo is not a cure!

It has been 7 years since my daughter had chemo for bone cancer. In the last 2 weeks her arms and legs started itching and she got the bumps. She asked her doctor what the new rash was. (She had forgotten that she use to have it). He told it is just dry skin.

She finally showed me this morning the "new rash". I tld her how I am treating mine, how the boys are treating theirs and had her make an appointment with a dermatologist to get the diagnosis so she can get Retin -A under insurance.

So anybody looking for the chemo cure...forget it. She had some of the harshest chemotherapy and it is back.

She was at least free of it for over 7 years during chemo and after, at least she doesn't have any scars from it.

So you were just deducing from the results of ur daughter's skin reaction to the chemo that it helped her kp? now ur theory might or might not be right? I dont think it was a good idea to post that up for a suggestion in the first place.

Angry

No! I didn't offer that as a theory! It was stated in the literature ON THIS SITE's REFERENCES by a medical doctor that the only cure for KP is chemo.

Silly me. I had thought that he had done his research.

Again chemo is used for some non serious but annoying skin diseases. Not my theory but medical fact!

That doctor MAY have given that report based on the 5 year survival studies also of cancer. (a guess not a THEORY)

Unfortunately most studies on cancer don't worry about people after 5 years because many of them don't survive and after 5 years their lives have complications from chemo side effects. (Statement in Oncology newsletter from issue Nov. 2003)

Her cancer was considered a cure because she is 7 years out. Even if she is to get it back again or another cancer, she was considered cured. Maybe that was the criteria for KP also.
