Pearson's Promise??
Hi,
Just searching around on the internet and came across these products called "Pearson's Promise" (http://www.pearsonspromise.com). It claims to be a "revolutionary keratosis pilaris skin care system". Has anyone tried the products...or are they just another scam?? Thanks for any info. |

I am not sure if I understand what active ingredients in their products make it effective. Did anyone catch this on the site?

Huh....the lotion has coconut oil and shea butter...my KP always gets better when I lay out or go on vacation...now I'm wondering if there was also something in the suntan oil that was also helping the KP (besides the sun)??? Anyone who's trying this please let us know if it works. I wish there was before and after pictures...or a money back guarantee. I have no problem paying for the products if they work but I'm sick of spending money on expensive products that don't work!

pearson's promise
He promises to take your money and not give two shakes about your KP.
Topical creams do not penetrate th "intercellular matrix". That would mean your skin was absorbing it-and getting between each of your living skin cells. The skin that you touch is dead-the skin under it is where the problem of KP lives- and otc products do not get into your skin deep enough. He's offering a aluminum oxide scrub to (hopefully) remove dead cells and hopefully open up clogged pores. You can only use it UP TO 2x a week. Must be potent. Here's what you should know about Aluminum oxide: In its powder form it is advised not to be on the skin. This guy doesn't say what else is in the scrub. It was also just taken off the EPA list in 1988. Also, repeated exposure or (long-term) "may have effects on the central nervous system" http://www.ilo.org/public/english/pr...3/icsc0351.htm I think it's a scam just like the anti-wrinkle creams...Come on already. Where is the serious science? K P.S. You can find the chemical properties and safety precautions of ALL listed ingredients of a product on the web-Just Google them! Stay safe people |

I've been using aluminum oxide crystals for almost a year now about once a week for some serious exfoliation. I remember having an argument or two on these boards about the use of these crystals.
Anywho, these are the crystals used in most over the counter microdermabrasion sets and most of the In-Office settings as well. I've been a member of this board for a very long time and can tell you out of all of the "remedies" that have been suggested on here, I've found the home microdermabrasion treatments have helped the most. |

I just found this board today and I am amazed there is not more discussion on this type of treatment. Specifically Shay's original post...
Does anyone else have any thoughts on using this type of treatment? |

In response to Brandon, I believe microdermabrasion treatment works for some, but not all. Unfortunately, I'm one of them. I think KGB31 has a point, that otc products do not penetrate deep enough. I think that is why microdermabrasion treatments or lotions have not worked for me, as it’s not deep enough to affect the root. Perhaps this is why the pumice method has found success for some, as it scrubs deep, probably dangerously deep to treat the problem.
