Hi
I have asked my doctor to prescribe progesterone cream for KP but she has never done this before and asked me to find out a little bit more. Please can anyone who has done this let me have any details - name of cream etc and any side effects - I would get the cream on prescription the NHS so it has to be available in the UK - I would not buy this off the net. I have PCOS and I also have dermatitis on my face and I am worried that the cream could upset the hormone balance even more. Once I have my info my doc is going to consult with the dermatologist and endocrinologist to see if I should go on this form of treatment. Please can anyone assist? I still believe (see previous mails) that it is how we absorb the fatty accids and vitamins in our bodies which leaves us with KP but progesterone is key to this process so I am willing to try anything! thanks Tattyhead |

I have used Progesterone cream since last July, partialy in hopes it would help my KP. But I don't think it has helped in that department at all. (It did help me lose the extra baby weight though!)

well i read in another thread where someone recommended Arbonne's balancing cream (im assuming progresterone?) b/c it completely cleared up their KP.
i guess it just works differently with everyone. i was going to try it. but the Arbonne's cream is quite expensive. ive had KP as long as i can remember... (altho until recently i didnt know it was KP, hello all btw, this is my first post!). it has always bothered me but my dermatologist told me there was nothing i could do about it.... but now (after having discovered this forum) i am willing to try some things out considering many ppl have found their own remedies that work for them. im new to starting with treatments.... does anyone have any recommendations on where to start? even tho i havent actively tried anything specifically to get rid of the KP (which is mostly on my upper arms... and legs) i have tried eucerin in hopes to calm it down which only made my skin shiny and greasy with no real signs of improvement. also my left arm seems to look worse than my right. any suggestions would help! thanks. ![]() |

i personally think the progesterone cream will work wonders for some individuals but not for others depending on the cause to their kp. if you do have some sort of hormonal imbalance such as PCOS then progesterone cream is definitely worth a try. PCOS is due to an estrogen excess and low progesterone, therefore increasing progesterone will help reduce the estrogen, balancing the ratio in your body. Excess estrogen causes many problems in the body and i think for these people progesterone cream will very much likely help. Goodluck tatty head let us know what happens

I'm on the Arbonne Progesterone Cream, it's called Prolief. It has helped me with about 20 out of 31 hormone imbalance symptoms, and i've only been on it for about 2 months. They say it will take 3 - 6 months to completely level off my hormones (after all, they didn't get out of whack over night, did they?) I would think that people who have had KP since childhood probably wouldn't benefit from Prolief. However those who developed it in puberty, pregnancy, menopause, or from a OB/GYN surgery might find it useful. My KP IS related to a hormone imbalance (I got it when I became pregnant, and it really erupted when I delivered) and it's getting better, but I don't know if it's from the cream. I started Arbonne's NutriMinC RE9 Body system at the same time, and it could be a combination of both. I DO know that I don't have to wake up for my 4 a.m. bathroom break at night anymore, I have lighter periods (they used to last for 7-11 days and I'd have to miss work for 1 or 2 days due to the severity of flow (sorry guys, just telling it like it is)), I haven't had any cystic acne since I started the Prolief, AND (most importantly, pay attention guys) MY LIBIDO IS BACK after a 6 month absence (I was on the pill for 6 months and it murdered my sex drive)!
Unfortunately, it's not available in the UK, yet.... BUT, they're supposed to go international next year. |

Now, I wonder what causes my KP.
When I was pregnant with my daughter my KP disapeared completely. GONE. Just to come back a few months after I delivered her. But still, I thought that hormones had something to do with it( when you are pregnat hormones dominate your life;-). Years later when I became pregnant with my son, my KP didn't change at all. So, it definetely has something to do with girl's hormones. I didn't know that I had KP until a month ago I always thought that my skin was dry. I learned from the internet that it' s something genetic... but now I see that it can be also be caused by hormones... Which kind is mine, I wonder.... |

When did you get KP initially? Childhood? What age? Puberty?

I don't know how far back I can remember ;-) but I'm sure I already had it in my early teens. So I would say puberty is about right. I used to live in a tropical country and the sun did its duty. So, even though I always had it, it wasn't nearly as bad and red as it is now that I live in the northeast. The winter here is brutal.
I am planning to visit my country this summer and I started to buy summer cloths that's how I became conscious and obsessed with my arms. I only have it in my upper arms and it has improve very much after I started using KP Duty. The bumps are 80% smaller but the redness persits and the red/purple dots are still very noticeable. Somehow I think that greasy products make it worse, i also put on some talc and my skin feels very fresh and soft. i don't know... I am still in the experimental stage.... |

Probably the best place to start is by exfoliating. I think we all can agree that removal of the skin cells will begin the road to managing KP. Some products to consider are scrubs used in the shower, mitts, pumice sponges, loofas and pouffs. (I personally use a scrub with salisylic acid in it.) Second, is to keep the skin hydrated, and this will be a trial and error process for you. You may find some products are too oily, and might cause additional break outs. Third, is to keep your skin from building up the keratin, usually with some kind of acid, either alpha (glycolic) or beta (salisylic). Everyone will have different results with different products. That's why this forum is so great; we all have different methods and what works for one, may or may not work for another. Good luck, and post your efforts and results! ![]() |
