OMG!! I can't believe I found this forum! I've suffered with
KP most of my life (about 30 years) and tried literally everything from agressive pumicing to every prescription and over-the-counter remedy with no real improvement. Over the years I have seen every dermatologist in my town and their passive attitude and ineffectual treatments have left me frustrated and their non-chalance about it has left me angry. I suppose that because
KP does not cause any real physical pain they don't consider it worth their time or effort, even though the psychological ramifications of
KP are very real and painfull...especially when you're younger.
I have
KP on my upper arms, upper back, buttocks and all over my legs. I live in New England so after this long, cold winter I am now left with dragon skin to face the skimpy fashions of spring and summer, lol. I have a well-toned body (due to yoga) and am lucky to be a size 4 after all these years but I'd gladly give it up for smooth skin.
My frustration is not motivated by vanity. My goal is not physical perfection, but just...for once in my life...to feel normal like most others. I just want to wear a tank top and shorts without feeling like a leper! Is that too much too ask???
Anyway...a big hello to everyone and just letting you all know I totally feel your pain. And I will definetly read through all the posts and see if I can find some relief. After all these years I'm still trying to get rid of
KP. Hope springs eternal, lol...
