Be patient with sulfur soap

Hi Everyone-
The buzz about sulfur soap seems to have died down, but I think it may deserve some more attention.
Whenever I start a new product I use it on only one arm, leg, and buttcheek so I can compare it to the other side and decide if I'm getting results. I did this for sulfur soap and didn't notice any improvment, but I didn't want to waste the bar of soap and it wasn't making it worse, so I kept up my experiment. A week ago I was rubbing my arms and noticed that one really was smoother than the other. Yesterday I notieced I actually had a small area on the sulfur soap arm that doesn't have ANY KP. No bumps, no redness. This is the first time in literally my whole life that any part of my skin has looked this way. My sulfur soap leg looks much better than the other one too. I'd been using the sulfur soap for well over a month before I noticed the difference. (Damn, now it's gonig to take my other side a month to catch up )

I'm also using Kiss My Face oil free alpha hydroxy lotion on my legs and Carmol 20 on my arms. But I'd been using these for some time and on both sides of my body. I noticed improvement with both these lotions, but not to the extent that I saw with the sulfur soap. I also had been using the St. Ives scrub every day, but I've cut back considerably since I've seen how well the sulfur soap works.

I use the 3% Sal. acid, 10% sulfur soap found at www.sal3.com. It's pretty cheap and the shipping is free. I rub the bar over wet skin in the shower, then scrub it in with a bath sheet (twice) and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse. It's such an easy solution compared to all the expensive, time consuming methods I've tried in the past. So, I suggest anyone who is interested in trying it (or has tried it in the past unsuccessfully) give it a go for at least a month. I can't tell you how thrilled I am with the results.

Are you sure what you are suffering from is KP? Not acne?

Hi Tinyfeet13,

I too saw a lot of posts here about sulfur soap. I have been using it for a month now...in the beginning it was working great and my skin felt smoother. But lately i haven't been scrubbing as hard and i see them appearing again. now my question is do you scrub it hard?

do you put anything on afterwards? i am tempted to try other stuff like glytone. I remember that helped me a lot to get rid of the bumps but never for the red dots. I am so tired of these red dots....

Hmm... I don't scrub really hard, but I certainly scrub. My scrubbing doesn't cause redness or broken skin if that's what you mean, but I'm not really gentle. I also let the soap sit for a few minutes before I rinse it off. I use Carmol 20 (Urea) on my arms and stomach twice a day and Kiss My Face Aloe and Alpha Hydroxy Oil Free moisturizer (yeah, long name) on my legs and butt. I started both those lotions before the sulfur soap, and they both helped but in combination with the soap there's really been an improvement. I still have red dots, but they are smaller and lighter. I'm hoping for more improvement yet.
