I've used the pumice method like ACE and The Pumicer suggested, it worked really well. My arms are about 80% bump free, feels great. The only problem is the redness and spots are still there. I am going to a wedding in the summer and I really hope I can wear shortsleeve... does anyone have a suggestion?

Eucirin (sp?) makes a redness reducing cream, it's tinted green which is supposed to help reduce the appearance of the redness. Haven't tried it but if your looking for a quick fix it might help. Getting a tan or using a self tanning method helps to camouflage the redness or I would make an appointment with you doctor and maybe he/she can prescribe something that may help.

I have not tried the cream, but I have a side note on it's tint. I am a make-up artist and when using color correctors like green/ yellow/ purple you still have to put a flesh tone over it to make it blend with the skin. True, in color theory green does neutralize red, but it's still green on top of flesh. Not sure how the lotion works, but it seems a little gimicky w/ the tint. I might check it out, though, just so I know for sure. Just thought I'd mention it.

Mary Kay cosmetics, sold by independents, carries a yellow concealer (beware, a little goes a long way), which works amazingly well to cover red areas. It also blends well; you can't tell you just put on something yellow.

It would. But then let me give you a home-made recipe for people of colour.
After the irritation has subsided, use this mask: One table spoon of powdered milk ( heaped) Oxygen Peroxide (enough to turn milk into paste) Mix the above in a plastic bowel. Apply to areas affected with dark spots. This is an instant bleach. The stinging you will experience is due to the lactic acid sloughing a layer of your skin. Bear with it for 10-15 mins. Wash with tepid water. You will be amazed at how lighter you could go in a few mins. |
