Talking Too Good To Be True!

Hi everyone. I just thought I'd share my awesome last couple of days with you. I just began this regimen three days ago. This is after weeks of trying to figure out this KP thing.

Well, a few days ago, I bought a bag of large cotton balls, a bottle of SeaBreeze astringent, and a bottle of BBW Eucalyptus Spearmint lotion.

1. I used the cotton balls to saturate my skin and let it sit for about 5 minutes.

2. I then vigorously rubbed all over my legs. (I had really bad KP all over my legs/thighs). I could not believe what I was seeing...the astringent was going deep into my pores and cleaning them out, and the dark stuff (keratin) in my hair follicles began dissolving and washing away! And my hair began lifting up out of the follicles. Oh my gosh.

3. After about 20 mins (10mins on each leg) I let the astringent air dry on my skin.

4. I then took a shower to rinse off any residue of the Sea Breeze astringent.

5. Moisturized all over with Eucalyptus lotion.

In three days, I'm about 30% clearer(spots/bumps gone). This is un-be-li-va-ble!!

Hi Phantastik,

I am using the Sea Breeze - Sensitive Skin, fresh-clean astringent. Its a gentle formula which deep cleans your skin. This stuff is amazing!! The ingredients are water, alcohol, glycerin, benzoic acid, camphor, clove oil, eucalyptus globulus oil, fragrance and color.....everything that fights the KP while the oils soften the skin.

This thing goes deep into the hair follicles and I think it works by dissolving the dark stuff in there. So then it all just comes out and the hair is released from being tangled up in the dark stuff (excess keratin).

My skin is very sensitive and naturally dry so I can't do the pumice stone/sponges. It tears up and damages my epidermis (upper layer of skin).

Phantastik,

Yes, I still have the 'dots', but since I began this regimen three days ago, about 30% of them have totally disappeared. Its kinda weird seeing so much more of my 'real' skin. lol. I actually just got out of the shower and before I went in, I did the whole routine. I just finished fully moisturizing with the BBW Eucalyptus Spearmint lotion. I can see more of a difference again since yesterday - even more dots seem to have gone away. The seabreeze is unclogging and dissolving the gooky dark stuff inside the follicle.

Actually, this is a bit scary to me, to think I can actually have clear skin! This is just too good to be true. haha

SoSad,

I purchased the SeaBreeze from either Walgreens or CVS (can't remember which one) skin care section. The important thing for me is that I don't let the astringent just stay on my skin all day, but just long enough to flush out the follicles. I don't want any residue (if any) of the astringent to stay on my skin and re-clog it. So I shower shortly after.

I can't stop looking at my legs!

Whichever system you guys use, good luck!

That's great news, babydoll. Is there any chance of seeing before/after photos as you continue to tackle the rest of your KP? That would be great to see!

Jeriko,

Starting today, I will treat only my right leg/thigh. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this treatment will work all the way or at least 90%.

I'll have to figure out how to upload the pics on here. This may sound silly, but I've been so conditioned not to let anyone every see any part of my legs, I still feel this way even about anonymous people seeing them. This is terrifying to me actually. I need a photo host site right?

JNally KP, hehehe. It took me a while to get used to the scent. Its not bad, its just different. I think the scent is clean and refreshing. Anyhoo, I'd rather deal with this scent than with KP all over my legs....hehehe

Phantastik,

In the shower, I use Johnson's Head-To-Toe Baby Wash. Its not a soap....its a cleanser...a mild cleanser. Its 100% soap-free, dye-free, and pH balanced! It is made specifically for babies so its a very gentle cleanser.Remember I said I have very sensitive skin? I stopped using soaps. They used to dry my skin, no matter which one I tried. Also, I believe the soaps used to leave a residue on my skin, which helped clog my pores/follicles and promote my unhealthy skin.

What regimen/treatment are you guys using currently?

Right now I use Neutrogena's Body Clear body wash with 2% salicylic acid, but it dries out my skin alot so I don't really like it.
And I use BBW Eucalyptus Spearmint lotion.
did you notice a difference in your kp after using the baby wash?? it sounds good, i might try it

thanks so much for the info babydoll, however i'm a little skeptical about treating my skin the same way because i've read in previous posts that you said you have darker skin, so you have the brown/dark dots. I think those are easier to get rid of than the red ones because when the dots are red, its a result of inflammation, than again i don't know, i'm so confused (lol).

Phantastik,

No I did not necessarily notice a difference in the KP after using the Johsons baby wash. The reason I use this wash is because it does not dry out my skin after showering, like soap/shower gels do. Also, it does not leave a residue at all on my skin.

The KP is a different issue to be tackled. hehe. The Seabreeze astringent is doing this for me. I actually see the dark keratin stuff from the follicles/pores coming out on the cotton balls...yuck!!! I think its the right combination of alcohol and oils which dissolves this. However, since it DOES contain alcohol, which can be drying to the skin, thats why I shower with the baby wash right after. It washes away all traces of the alcohol, so it doesn't dry my skin.

Brian,

I am not American, but I am black with caramel complexion. I might venture to say inflammation occurs regardless of the color of the dots...? Not sure myself. But my guess is that because this excess keratin/stuff/goo is residing in the follicle for such a long time with the hair all twisted up in it,...it therefore becomes inflamed. I think the excess stuff in the follicle somewhat slightly damages it because it can't function properly, and the redness (in my case, browness) or inflammation that we see, is the immediate skin around the follicle reacting to this damaged follicle.

Its only after we remove the 'stuff' and coiled hair in the follicle, that we can then treat the skin and allow it to heal it back to its normal complexion. To me, its like you one gets a splinter in the arm. Immediately upon removal, the skin will have a redness. It needs time to heal, but cannot heal if the splinter is still in the skin.

I don't know, but.... this is what makes sense to me at this point.

What do you guys think?
