KP on other people

This weekend I was busy running a ton of errands. I was out and about and around a lot of people. but i seemed to notice more people with KP than ever before.

maybe its because i am so aware of it now. maybe its because i try to spot it on people. maybe its just because i was around the general public more than usual.

I noticed the type of people who cover up and the type that dont. it was really a mix.

can anyone else share something on this topic? I am the type who covers up so i look for how people who have KP dress and such. just to see how they approach it.

Lonewolf, I am exactly the opposite. I seem to never see people with KP. That's why for so many years, I thought I was the only one that had it. I am glad I came across this site, because it really opened my eyes.

Hatemyskin,

I thought I was the only one. I was a freak of nature, because NO ONE else I knew had it. I had no even seen strangers with it.

The last time I wore shorts in public was when I was 14, and that's because I HAD to dress out for Phys. Ed in school. I lived in a hot and humid climate, and so I looked real silly wearing slacks and jeans in the middle of August! LOL

At least now I know I'm not a freak.

HI I just joined the board today.

Last week I ran across an article that briefly mentioned Keratosis Pilaris, but didn't mention it by name and it suddenly dawnd on me "Hey I think I've got that. Maybe there is a treatment for it." So I went hunting it up online. The funny thing is I had been to a dermatologist for a skin cancer screening the same week and they didn't even mention it to me.

I never knew there was a name for theses little white head like bumps on my arms and the red blochy appearance that goes with them.

It isn't very severe for me and I sometimes get it aorund my knees and butt too. I wonder if this might be on my chin too. In general my face has a nice even complection but my chin and mouth area always rough and the only place I get zits. Could this be KP, too?

The truth is I never saw it as something "wrong" with me so I never covered it up. The only time anyone has ever said anything to me about it is one time when I had bene stressed out and scrathed at it and made it scab up in a few place and then it was my Mom.

I think it was probably a blessing that I never knew the name I might have bene more self-conscious about it then I am. I thoght it was just bad skin so I tried a few skin products but didn't get much success so I just shrugged it off and me and my sleeveless shirts moved on.

Thanks to all the different ideas here I think I'll try clearing it up again, but one thing is for sure, cleared up or not, I'm not going to start worrying about and hiding under long sleeves now.

Sorry about allt he icons I was just loving the little faces.

I'm always checking out peoples arms in search of KP. I've found a lot of people that have it - but have it midly - not at all like mine. Some people just have small patches of small/flat bumps that really just look like freckels - and if that was how mine looked I wouldn't care or obsess about it - it just looks like dry skin - not pimply irrated skin.

That's how I have it! It looks more like acne than the explanation the medical literature gives it. I hate it! I don't see it on anyone...
