Hi all... I was just looking through an old dermatology book today and came across KP. I believe I have it. My symptoms: Redness around the follicles on my forearms that never used to be there, and the same thing on the back of my upper arms (classic) that alwys has been there. Forearms are somewhat bumpy, and occasionally I'll be able to squeeze a small amount of white matter out of some of the larger bumps. The thing that really gets me is that I spend a lot of time on the computer, and my arms (the right more than the left) are on the desk a lot and as a result, the skin just down below my elbow (the area that would rest on a table) is ALWAYS covered in bumps (most of them are colorless, but a lot are very annoyed, red, sometimes even pus-filled). It looks like I have a pox.
Anyway, I'll do some more reading on the board tomorrow (I just found this site a few minutes ago) but I wanted to say hello and get a little feedback if possible. Two strange things: One, nothing much has changed in the last few years, exept I have 2 kids (6 & 2) but for about 5 years (+/-) I've had the KP on my forearms that never used to be there. I heard that it's common for teens but not so common to develop as an adult. I'm 28. And two, no matter how much I moisturize and exfoliate, it's still there and my skin is still dry-ish. I scrub with a pumice (like for feet) and I actually shave my arms too (it actually is so much worse when I don't shave the hair off) and apply moisturizer right after showering, but to litttle avail. Any ideas on how to tackle the problem or why it just showed up in my mid 20s?Anyhow, if anyone has any input it would be appreciated. Talk to you all later! |

Hello, I just signed on new as well. I've always had kp but i found that after having my baby, it got worse and now I'm really self consious of it. I'm wondering if waxing my upper arms would help. What do you think

Each baby I had, worsened my KP. I don't understand the correlation, though. Maybe due to calcium deficiency.
