If you want to get over your addiction to chapstick try this.

Get Burt's Bee's lip balm or any lip conditioner that uses beeswax. NOT PETROLEUM. It will take several months but you can then kick the habbit as long as you don't use lipstick or glosses with petroleum. There are a lot out there that just stain the lips or many at the natural food stores that won't cause an addiction.

Don't use vasoline on your lips either.

This may sound really gross but what people did before cosmetics in very cold climates was use ear wax. I learned that one from my grandfather who was born in the 1800's and was a chemististry professor. I guess it would certain cure you of licking your lips too.

Burts bees has great lip balms! There's a minty one that smells just like gum, and feels great on chapped lips.

guess what?

I do use Burt's Bees Chapstick. I try to find chapstick that is made from oil or beeswas and not petroleum products.
The problem about Burt's Bees for me is the peppermint oil. It irritates my lips.
The problem I also have with my oil/beeswax chapsticks I use is A. they are more expensive and B. they melt easier.
I can't tell you how many tubes I've lost because of warm weather. The same with lipstick.

sorry it took so long to post reply. it's been a while since i've been here. now that school has started and the holiday season is here, i'm a whole lot busier now. that's the one thing i like about summer--the leisurely pace of it!

You can always make your own salve. Go to a beauty supply store and buy several small empty travel pots or eye shadow pots. (You can also look at the drug store for very in expensive make-up lip gloss pots and clean them out.

Olive oil, almond oil and heated on the stove and add 10 parts oil to 1 part beeswax. Store in a dark glass jar in the refrigerator so the oil won't go rancid. You can add natural preservative of grapefuit seed extract and then put in some essential oils that don't irritate your skin if you want.

I found some recipes on the internet. You will end up with more than a years supply for a few dollars and enough to give as gifts.
