update

well, I´m not as disciplined as I initially hoped

but i see a difference!

You gotta know that the KP on my legs is astronomically huge - thousands upon thousands bumps (this is no exageration), mainly concentrated on the outer & front parts of my lower legs, and just above the knee and front & sides of my thighs EXTREME - there is not a single mm between bumps - its literally everywhere, but the inner thigh.

So I changed into a smaller, humidified room.. failed that! and moved back to my luxurious master bedroom within 2 days

I do the scrub thing daily in the shower - and twice a week body exfoliate with a local brand.

I found products with RetinA - but creams are so pricey - I eventually found a skin neutralizer - meant to be patted on your face after a wash? that contained retinA. only EUR9,00 a bottle, and I just splash it on my legs after the shower/scrub & vigourous towel drying. 30 minutes later I´ll smear it all with Nivea body lotion.

But I´ve done these things before - so I´m guessing the main difference is the face tanner I got. I´ve used it 3 times for 10 minute bursts in the first week (on my legs) (10 minutes seems an eternity when you cant move!) and the results are good. Bumps have receded so far that when I´m applying lotion, I hardly feel the bumps anymore. I just gotta open my eyes and SEE the marks.. but by touch alone, they have definitely reduced.

Sunshine definitely plays a major role in KP - I´m convinced. I lived in Africa for most of my life.. yes - had KP in moderation from my teenage years - but nothing to prevent me from wearing shorts. In fact, I was naturally tanned all the time (through suncreen), and the KP was only noticable when I rested my elbows on my knees for awhile.. and when standing I´d SEE red bumps, but not feel them.

now in the cold EU - they have not only spread, I see and feel them. they have seriously mulitplied!! the changes in 6 years have been amazingly bad!

I digress..

I also try to take a mutli vitamin every day. dont always succeed, but it may have helped. I´m definitely going to try the carrot juice as some posters have suggested. I´m just going to try new methods, but try not to combine too many - so when one works, I´ll notice!

the site is great.
cheers!

oh yeah - one more thing - I had been become practically hairless on my legs (outside of the ankles) when my KP set in so bad. now when I look in the light, I can see baby fluff sprouting.. so... thats gotta be something!

I agree with you somewhat

I agree that when I lived in other countries my acne cleared up as well as my kp.. but I live in Las Vegas now and my kp is all over my arms.. and I still wear taktops and stuff like that..so maybe it's heat and humidity?

thanks for your response! I had actually forgotten something that *may* be relevant.

When I moved to the EU with my 8 year old daughter - she developed a major rash. it stayed with her for almost 10 months. Initially her doctor attributed it to adjusting to the environment - its pollution levels. (we live in the heart of one of the most densely populated countries of the EU) and yes - it improved after a year - but never went completely away - it just got one jack of alot better than the initial rash.

Now, I wonder about the benefits of sweating - as in africa - I sweated regularily.. not only heat, but we were very outdoor folk - hiking, etc.. cleaner air for one. But our lives in the EU became very sedentary overnight. plus additional pollution. I wonder if that played a role?

My daughters rash had developed into bumps on her thighs too - minor KP (I didnt know it was a "condition" until a couple months ago and simply told her it was hereditary and to scrub) - but her condition was similar to what I had when a teen - not too bad. She moved back to africa in Aug last year - I´m going to email her now and ask her how its going in regards to her "bumps".

thanks again!

You may be on to something with the sweating.. When I first moved to Vegas I used to hike and do a lot of outdoorsy stuff.. lately I refuse too..it's too crowded, just not any fun.. When I moved back I did the gym, but mostly swimming- and that chlorine just killed my skin. I used lotions after, but it might not have been strong enough.
