I'm new. Few Questions. (15Male)

I've had these bumps for like a year, so i decided to do something today. I'm not really a light skinned person. I'm a teenager boy who started getting these bumps freshmen year. I had to find some help because i've been getting these dark scars. Im glad theres lots of other people that have this disorder.

So, i've been getting these bumps. Sometimes I can take them out and i find hair under it. Is this the keratosis pilaris disease?

I noticed that i get it in areas where im not tanned. Im a tan colored person. I usually get it on my thighs and upper arm where im not really thanned there. Does tanning and giving it lotion help?

I take hot showers and it really dries out my skin, will taking colder showers help?

I hear carrots help. If i eat carrots as a snack will it help?

Any tips would be appreciated. I'm not an adult yet (15), so i cant take prescriptions or anything like that. Thx.

Hi! I'm new to this to as far as knowing it is a skin condition. I've read that carrot juice works well but I couldn't find any yet. I wondered about V8. I bought some carrots and have been snacking. Anything could be better than nothing. In the last year my bumps have gotten worse. Last summer was the first summer that I didn't get a decent suntan. I've thought of that one too. I can promise you I will this year. I bought a store brand of St. Ives apricot scrub and started scrubbing to exfoliate. Then applied an after hair removal cream. Bikini zone. It takes away the inflammation. Some people don't have any inflammation. I've also found that Vaseline brand "Firming and Radiance" lotion contains a product called urea. Some other web sites have listed getting a urea cream and mixing with 2% salicyic acid. Put it on, scrub with loofah. Pat skin dry. Those products are prescription. You would have a problem unless your parents? thought it was a big enough deal to take you to the derma. I bet if you can't get it under control it may get worse. I've bought the St. Ives medicated apricot scrub the other night. It's active ingredient is 2% salicyic acid. I've been scrubbing in the shower (try a cooler one) and afterward applying bikini zone which also contains salicyic acid. Then applying the firming lotion. You're too young to have to need a firming lotion. Mine looks better. To each its own. I don't think there is a cure yet and nothing works the same for everyone. Good luck!

hey there, try this now!

Yes, we're reallllyyy on to something with the carrot juice thing (foods rich in vita a /beta carotene). Start drinking one 8 oz glass of carrot juice a day and slowly move up to two cup) read my post on "please try vita a/beta carotene" and pleaaassseee email me or post a reply on my post. Be patient! It doesn't make t disappear but it controls the condition and stops new kp from forming.
