That's a scam. I remember people saying Demodex causing hair loss. Guess what? They came out with a product that killed demodex and it didn't do much for hair loss.

lol, its kind of ironic, when theres finally possibly a cure, everybody is just all "screw that". whatever, you can live with your kp and never think out-side the box ???

They don't cause *all* hair loss. Only Demodetic hair loss. I don't mean to be straightforward but you guys all seem to be naive about this. Just "Oh that's stupid it won't work" yet people are trying hormone balancing creams?!

I'm just a little annoyed that you people are s skeptical, yet nobody questions this progestrone cream being endorsed by someone who is PAYED to sell the stuff..

Hi - Dora here. Great site! This could be the problem. I've been a believer that KP is caused by some type of parasite, given my family's experiences. We've been trying a couple of different parasite-cleansing programs on my daughter; they have improved the condition significantly, but do not get rid of the KP entirely (her face and legs are clear, but her arms are being stubborn). I'd rather have a remedy that works from the inside-out, so you know you are getting it all, but if one doesn't exist, well......

One of the active ingredients in this product is 2% Metronidazol- isn't that an anti-fungal sold over-the-counter? If it is, I think I'll start rubbing a bit of it into my daughter's KP on her arms and see how it goes.

If a few of us have success in treating for demodex, then maybe we'll convince the nay-sayers. It's been my experience, Anonymous, that most people don't like to consider that they may be host (hostess) to parasites.

OK, so I did my homework. I mixed up Metronidazol with some other ......nidazol! Apparently it is prescription only. Flagyl is a brand name, taken internally, and used for microscopic parasites and protozoa (giardia, etc.) I wonder if it would work internally, or if it has to be applied topically?

OK, so I'm really into this possibility! Here is a site, naturalginesis.com, that has a product called Kleen-Free Enzymes, a non-toxic alternative to applying pesticides to get rid of insects and body parasites. It says it is natural, and that the enzymes attach to the protein-based skeleton of the insect and make the insect molt prematurely, resulting in death.

It lists scabies, lice, bed bugs, fleas, dust mites and biting mites. The pics of the biting mites look the same as at the demodex site. I happened to have this product in a closet and was planning on trying it next (I've been into natural foods, cleaners, etc. for a long time, and bought this a couple of years ago in case my kids were exposed to unwanted kritters at daycare or school).

So tonight my daughter got an enzyme bath. I'll let you know if there are any results.

This is really interesting ive been reading up a lot on demodex mites. The thing that im unsure about is that it says that the mites are mainly found on the forehead, cheeks, tip of nose and ear canals? So its quite strange that a lot of us dont have any bumps on our face but more on our body. It does say though that the demodex mites feeds on sugar and yeast, so perhaps this is why we see a worsening in our kp when eating sugary foods. Does anyone have any of the symptoms that is says on the website? Itching/thinning of eyelashes/hair loss/ tingling sensations at night. i dont have any of them. hm but even if it isnt this mite i think kp is definitely caused by some sort of parasite. Because i remember dora you said that you and your daughter got rid of kp by just boosting your immune system with vitamin c! And it says that the mites only come up in individuals who has an immune system that is compromised. I know that i have a really bad immune system...i get sick very often. Anyway, im currently on a herbal at the moment to help boost my immune system as well as get rid of parasites so ill let everyone know how that goes.

I'm not sure about a vitamin c connection. I've been on multi's for over a year and I take vitmain C as well and mine pretty much always looks the same. I'm trying some of the different lotions to give that a shot

Careful.. If it's a topical medication DONT eat it!! Topical metronidazol has proven to be harmful when taken internally.. there is a special oral metro for that. Topical metronidazol has shown carcinogenic activity in bacterial in vitro arrays. So I wouldn't eat it. lol. Of course this was with chronic overdosing, but yeah..

It is not logical to assume these mites are the origin of KP. Sure people who have them have similar looking symptoms, but these mites feed on scalp sebum.. they cannot live on areas other than your head. KP is a genetic disorder

My issue with the Demodex creams/products is that I suspect they simply may contain potent high dose steroids....as is sometimes the case with "miracle" asian wonder ointments. The laws regulating these drugs are not the same in China as they are in the US. I've sent an email to the Demodex Solutions people asking them if their products contain any steroids or hormone class drugs. We'll see what they say.

96-98% of the world's population has demodex, it's a bug that is suppose to eat up the oils and dead skin cells which (may actually help you). so, im not really sure demodex is really the source of our skin problems.

re

I wouldn't discount the Demodex theory just yet. I've been researching Rosacea all day and came across a lot of information leading me to buy the theory of demodex mites and the link to rosacea. Everyone has demodex mites, but people with rosacea have a significant amount more and it has to do with the immune system like the other poster said.

Anyway, today I was thinking. I'm itching like mad all over my body, not just my face and I was wondering if maybe the mites have anything to do with KP since the research I found linking it to rosacea states they eat your hair follicle and it leads to hairloss and eyelash loss bc they damage the follicle to such an extent with their bacteria.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but I've lost a lot of hair on my arms where my KP is and the hair that's there looks jagged and unhealthy.

Sooooo, I found something that looks promising at killing the demodex mite and you don't have to order it from China (like most demodex mite killers):
Sea Buckthorn Oil. There are places that sell this oil in products, but it's more cost effecient to buy it on it's own and just mix it with your current shampoo, face soap, body cleanser and/or body lotion.

Go to amazon.com and search sea buckthorn oil and 3 things will pop up. You want the gel caps (you break them and the oil comes out). It's 60 gel caps per bottle. The benefits of this stuff sound amazing and I'm not just reading the marketing stuff off the sellers website. Do your own research on the oil and you'll see the other benefits of taking it internally. I'm probably just going to add it to my shampoo and face cleanser and possibly apply it straight on my lashes and my arms and see if it works.

Yes, these mites can live anywhere on your body, especially your face. They are most common on cheeks, nasial folds and eyelashes.
