WANTED: Helpful K.P.ers
Hello,
I am new to treating my kp and as such I have been devouring as much info from this site as possible. I would like to begin treatment as soon as possible. I have a few questions about a couple different regimes I've heard people talking about in here. The first question is, should I expect my skin to look more red directly after exfoliating? Second, about sulpher soap, if you use that do you also exfoliate before or after or not at all? Third, if you use pure 100% shea butter as a moisturizer is it best to apply directly after showering/exfoliating/using a special soap, or is it ok to use it at night before bed. I ask because there was some talk about the greasy waxy feeling shea butter leaves on your skin and it being a pain/mess with clothes and such. Fourth, I can't for the life of me find the post again, but there was a person who said they had had luck with speariment/eucylyptus(?) lotion from bath and body works. Any one else here try that? I'll combine my last two questions. Those people who've talked about St. Ives medicated apricot scrub, are they using it on their face only or on other body parts afflicted with kp? Lastly, I'm thinking of trying a combination of the sulpher soap, and the shea butter. Any one else here tried this?? Any luck, or even any thoughts?? Shea butter, so I've heard, is supposedly high in vit. a. My problem with my kp is mainly the red dots around the base of each hair on my arms, although I do have bumps as well. I'm guessing from what I've read that the "red dots" are the hardest to minimize. Am I right in assuming this? Should I just find a good sunless tanner? sincere thanks to all who reply. I'm willing and definately ready to learn all I can to help my self. ![]() |

I can speak to the St. Ives question. I recently started using it on all my KP areas (I don't use it on my face). I was actually quite surprised at how effective it was, since I've used exfoliating scrubs numerous times in the past, but this one really does seem to work better. The tube doesn't last that long since it's only marketed for the face, and the body is much larger, but it's really cheap so it's not a big deal. Good luck!
