Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting. I was diagnosed with KP in 2005 and was prescribed Tretinoin Cream and Ammonium Lactate Cream. It works on and off but nothing to brag about. I’m getting married in April 2006 and I purchased a strapless wedding dress. I’ve been using the Sisal Wash Cloth from The Body Shop twice a day and the bumps have reduced, but the KP is still noticeable. Does anyone have any tips on cover up makeup? I don’t want to be worried about how my arms look on my wedding day. Thank you in advice for all your help! Johanna |

Hi Bride,
Congrats on your upcoming wedding! As for coverups, have you ever tried the Mystic Tan? It's a fake tan but looks natural and is applied all over the body in a booth, and it takes about 30 seconds. It's offered at many tanning salons. Search the board for previous postings about the mystic tan. Other people like Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, but I found it unnatural looking and not effective for my KP. Dermablend specializes in coverup makeup, but I didn't like it as it was so time consuming to put on. As for treating the KP, another thing you can try is Jergen's Skin Smoothing lotion. This along with the sulfur soap (www.sal3.com) has helped smooth my bumps and also decreased my redness, which was so bad people would constantly ask me "what's that on your arm?" I haven't had to deal with that since adding the Jergen's to my regimen. It's cheaper than the Nuetrogena lotion (which didn't do anything for me), you can buy it at the supermarket, and it worked on my skin fairly quickly. Anyway, good luck to you and I hope you find something that works! |

Pinky - Thank you for the tip. I'll look into it. I just purchased the Clinique acne solution body spray. I'll see how I look in 2 weeks.

Hi bride06 like you I am getting married this June and just recently figured out that I had KP on my arms and legs 2 weeks ago by internet search, seen many dr's & none could help me.
Anyway I have found a good coverup by accident that worked on my arms. It is a tatoo coverup that I ordered to coverup my tatoo for my wedding and I tried it on my arm and it worked. It would be worth a try, you can order a sample from them and try it out before your wedding. I got it from magic makeup - http://www.covermarkusa.com/covermark_kits_tattoo.htm but I see by a google search there are several out there. I scrubbed really good with a pumice bar (sponge) and then used the coverup. I think this will be perfect for my wedding. I have started using the pumice bar daily and then a good lotion and my skin is very smooth now but I still have the red spots and it covered them great. Hope you have some good sucess |
