Hi, i'm 25 and live in the uk. I was born with with kp and so was my sister. My mother had it when she was younger but hers has practically all cleared up and she's in her 50's. I have always wondered what caused my spotty skin and was told when I was younger that it was just dry chicken skin and nowt could be done to get rid of it. It was only recently when I researched into my condition I came across kp and saw all the photo's and and thought that must be it, my arms are identical.

I've had kp on the backs of my arms, all over my legs, and bum since i was a child but when I hit my teens it sort of spread to my back and stomach. The only places not affected are my chest and neck??? They aren't sore or itchy but some spots do contain a tiny yucky white substance. Does any one else get this? I have tried numerous creams etc to no avail the only thing that helped the dryness a bit was aqueous cream from the chemist. I absolutely hate it in the summer as I don't feel comfy having any thing on show as I always get the questions " Whats wrong with your arms" or even the occasional "it it catching". Any way I have felt for so long my family must be the only ones suffering this as no one else I know has it. Its just great to now know that it is much more common than I first thought and that I have somewhere like this site where I can come and talk about it.
