Kp gone

Hi all ,
I used to live in the U.K but have now moved to new zealand . Since moving to new zealand my K.p has completely disappeard on the back of my arms . I think this is due to the strong sunlight in new zealand and i have been sunbathing everyother day . But i noticed that kp tends to be in the places where u dont usually allow sun expsure e.g back of arms , thighs e.t.c and since sunbathing and allowing them areas to be exposed i am K.P free. Now i am NOT telling you to go out and get cooked but rather to just get a healthy amount of sunshine onto the exposed areas now and again . Obviously if you live in places were there isn't much sunlight this may not be a great help and i dont think going on a sun bed is a good way to go about it either

I think it could have to do with the humidity as well? I used to live in Texas and I didn't have KP but now that I live in Colorado I do. I think the humidity has a lot to do with it, but it's just my theory

Phantastik,

Is there more or less humidity where you are living now?

Sun exposure DEFINATELY makes a difference. I've been out in the sun alot lately (swimming etc) and it has made such a difference with my KP.
It's really cleared up.

In Colorado there is a LOT less humidity..and that's why I think I got it, because my skin is always so dry now.

julieandrews, that's a great idea! I'm going to try that

Yeah I do. I have to keep it going 24/7 though during the winter. The air in Massachusetts is really dry.

Where im lving now in new zealand is on the east coast so it has a real nice climate all year round , and at this time of year it its around 85-90% humidity levels. i havnt done anything else to my kp and its gone , i ued to scrub , rub , moisturize in the u.k but it made little or no difference , i dont even have to do that anymore . so definetly something to do with humidity, sun , maybe even vitamin d. so try get a nice amount of sun each day and maybe try get hold of humidifirer

Hi, my daughter has KP and we went to the Gold Coast, Queensland for two weeks, where the humidity was almost unbearable. Her KP was visibly reduced. We're from
Sydney, where it's also very humid (and sunny), but there are more pollens here, so I'm wondering if it's an allergic reaction. Her dermatologist has linked KP with asthma. Does anyone with KP have a history of asthma

sun

Wonder if there's any correlation to sunlight helping kp and taking vitamin D? The body makes vitamin D by using sunlight, which there is obviously more of in the summer than winter (when most people's kp gets worse). My daughter has had amazing improvements on her kp by using other vitamins, so maybe adding D could help. It would save exposure to those nasty UV rays!

It's worth a try, of course, but I think it's the actual UV rays that are what clears up KP, not necessarily the vitamin D.
