What is it about Sydney's (Australia)water?
Last month I took my 14 yr daughter to a dermatologist to be told she has KP on her arms, legs and face. He gave her calmurid to try. However, we've been staying on the gold coast (Queensland) and her KP seems to be clearing up.
I visited a friend in Sydney last week, who also has the same problem, and she said when she left Australia, to travel overseas, her condition cleared up, only to return when she returned to Sydney. Is there a link between the water in Sydney and the aggravation of KP? I would love to know if someone else has made the same connection. Leanne |

I don't know anything about Sydney but I have noticed that while away at school in Oakville, Canada, my skin seems to be a lot better thant is when I'm home in Niagara Falls. I still use the same body wash and face wash so I have to assume it's the water. Maybe the water is softer in Oakville? I have always wondered whether getting a hard water filter for the shower would help my skin. I think it would make a difference.

Sydney water vs other water
Thanks for your comments, Aquarius, but I'm not sure whether it's a case of hard vs soft water as Sydney water is said to be soft. I'm wondering whether it's because our water is heavily fluridated (is that the word).

Hey,
I live in sydney as well, and noticed when i went to melbourne it improved. You know what i dont know that its the water. I think it may be the humidity and also the dust and pollution. Esp dust maybe pollen kind of stuff in the environment here. We (family) did notice it got bad when we moved here so that is interesting. CHeers. |

maybe it is the dust and pollen, but perhaps not the humidity as the Gold Coast has it trumps over Sydney in that department! While Sydney swelters in 44 degrees, we are finding it hard to deal with the high humidity while on hols here. Perhaps the pollen suggest it's an allergic reaction. The dermatologist asked if we had any asmathics in the family as that is often a link to KP. My daughter is noticing how much softer her skin is getting. Pity we can't stay here indefinitely.
Thanks for your input. |
