steroid took away redness

hI- last spring, I had 2 steroid shots to reduce the redness in a scar on my upper arm- the steroid didn't reduce the redness in the scar, but I noticed that it has turned the KP sking around the scar into perfectly normal skin- no bumps, no redness. It has been around 7 months now and it is still good. Why aren't steroids used to treat small areas like the upper arms?

I assume due to the health risks. I have always been warned that steroids would do bad things if I took them too long for KP (topical). It's too bad---it seems the only thing that really clears up the KP.

I went to a dermatoligist last week and was told I had excema. My fingers and thumbs had been split and crack for about a year and a half. They were so bad they would bleed. This was the second dermatoligist I had went to. I took all sorts of cream and nothing work. He gave me a steriod shot and some cream to put on twice a day. One is a Protopic cream I put on at bedtime. So far the fingers & thumbs look better. What a relieve. Also my heels are the same way. So I'm treating them too. I was just wondering how often can you get steroid shots. I have to go back in 3 weeks. I think he will maybe give me another one. I know my excema will never go away. It flares up from stress and I have alot of that.

Steroids have side effects so it's probably not the best way to treat KP. I heard you can get stretch marks from steroids because it thins your skin.
