New with lots of questions

Hi,

I just found this board and I have a lot of questions. I've had KP for as long as I can remember, and it was diagnosed about 5 years ago but my old dermatologist told me that there was nothing that could be done about it, so I've just been living with it. I've been reading about all of these treatments that you use and I had a few questions. I have KP mostly on my arms and legs....I never had it on my face. It's not as bad as most of you describe. My bumps are red but not all that bumpy...you can see dots that look like bumps, but my skin isn't that rough. It's the worst on my legs.

I was wondering if anyone noticed a difference waxing legs instead of shaving?

I was also wondering if maybe since my KP isn't all that bad, if I should just leave it alone and not try doing all kinds of stuff to it? Has anyone had theirs get worse after beginning to treat it?

I'm going to try some of the things that people said to use on here unless anyone thinks I shouldn't....

Thanks,
MJ

Some, like me, notice an improvement with products like Veet or Nair.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have paid it more attention when it wasn't so bad. Now that is all over, it is harder to deal with.

No kidding. I wish I could turn back time and would have taken care of my kp right from the beginning (or at least not picked at it - the scarring is my biggest problem now).

Hi
I am also new and have pretty much the same condition as you have described maj811! I find that after i shave it looks quite red on my legs but the next day it subsides a bit, i would like to try waxing in the hope of clearing the folicles out. but not sure if it would work?

I try to leave my skin alone and it has its ups and downs, most improvement is on my arms from leaving it alone. i have found that most posts on this forum discuss having really dry skin, mine is not that dry from KP!

to treat it i use BENZAC cream which i just buy from the chemist, however this tends to dry the skin out. i dont mind this though because when i moisturise it seems to get a bit wose! and the benzac actually reduces the redness and inflamation of the KP. does anyone else have this situation?

jaz
