IODINE! Amazing-really working for me

Hi, all - I'm new, but not new to Keratosis Pilaris - had it off and on for 20 years. The "off and on" part always bothered me - thought you either have it or you don't - but now, by accident, I think I know what the key is for me, anyway. I have been trying to treat a uterine fibroid naturally to avoid surgery and one of the things I read that is important is good thyroid function. Iodine was suggested. So I started taking liquid iodine in veggie juice for about a week, when I noticed that my SKIN was looking great! The bumps were far fewer and my skin is getting so soft, it's amazing.

I went back to read more about iodine, and read that if the thyroid is sluggish or malfunctioning, it can prevent your system from absorbing Vitamin A, which I had been taking and it did not help my skin UNTIL I started using the iodine (Skye Botanicals "Serious Seaweed Potion" - got it at the Health food store.) I read about the connection between thyroid/Vitamin A/skin bumps in a book called "Healing Fibroids - A Natural Cure. It's on page 66, case study of "Delores." And then, Iodine = thyroid boost. So there you go.

I hope this is helpful to someone - it is really working for me. Skin brushing is really helpful, too, if you can keep it up.

i thought there was a correlation between iodine and acne. that would be the only reason i wouldn't try it cause i dont want my acne to get worse. You know whats a good product that im dying to try out there that has iodine in it...? Sea Vegg capsules..everyone look it up..

Yeah too much iodine can cause acne; but it might vary person to person. Maybe if you had an iodine defiency that is why you see an improvment in your skin. But most people get enough from table salt or supplements. But if you are a vegitarian or vegan you probably dont eat a lot of processed or salted foods.

But I have no problem getting salt, when eat too many salty foods I breakout like crazy.

That's weird. I get really bad salt cravings. I wonder if that's why.

PEBBLES,

hi! I'm glad fort you... only one question:
What about the dots (red, light brown, or any other kind)???

I also read that junk salty food doesn't always contain iodine in it...

Well, good luck everyone,

Marky

Arrow be careful

Hi guys,

Some people have iodine allergies, and I think if you're allergic to shellfish you're also allergic to iodine, so those folks should be careful.

Had trouble posting! ..

Hi all,
I meant to reply sooner but I had trouble getting on; kept getting error messages. Anyway, yes, if you are allergic to shellfish, take it easy, but as far as acne - ? I have not had that reaction. Maybe I just really had a deficiency, because it has helped with so many things. I am losing weight, but that is also due to the fact that I am basically living on enzymes and water these days, to get rid of this damned fibroid. Not eating much, but the seaweed stuff in Very Veggie juice is really helping my skin. In fact, along with taking Vitamin A and zinc, my complexion looks better than it ever has. Lots of water, too.

I am also using a skin brush, which honestly, I think is the major reason for the dramatic improvement in my KP. AND not using anything that has laurel sulfate or any "laurels" in it. I use plain, 100% cocnut oil soap and it doesn't strip the oils out of your skin so you don't dry out. I can't use ANY lotions because they have parabens in them that are estogenic and therefore make the fibroid grow.

: P Anyway, if you suspect you have low thyroid, of course, ask your naturpoath, but man, iodine really helps me alot.

Love yourself! Best medicine of all.

Yeah i use castile soap..which is very mild. milder than dove or tone. Bonner's makes good soap and it doesn't aggrivate my kp. I also have been using Neem Oil Soap which i like.

low thyroid

Very interesting. I had a naturopathic doctor-friend mention i may have low thyroid, and it sounds like there's a connection with iodine deficiency. I'm also a vegetarian so salt consumption is quite low.

I'm seeing a naturopath next week, and I'll certainly ask him for his thoughts and recommendations - and report back with anything worthwhile.

Thanks for your post Pebbles!
