I agree, we should all sign this. I saw that petition when I first found this board a few months ago. I am surprised that there arent much more signatures today than when I first saw it!

I decided to contact the petition's author to see if he has talked to any researchers about KP. Here is what he replied:

"I haven't even sent the petition to any of the researchers yet. I'm waiting for more signatures. The petition has been up for over a year, and only a little over 900 people have signed it. That's very discouraging to me. We're not going to convince researchers that it's worth their while to research this disease if we can't manage to convince people with KP to sign the petition. After all, the petition claims that half the world's population is affected. If that's so, why won't more people sign the petition? If I submit the petition to researchers, I want them to think that people are demanding a cure--not that even people with KP don't care. Other petitions on petitiononline have managed to collect tens of thousands of signatures. Ours is getting relatively little attention."

Come on people, sign this!

I was the second person to sign this petition and have gotten just about everyone in my family to sign it and although I would like to see more names, I am obtimistic that there seems to be more names added each and every week. I think that if more people knew about the petition they would jump at the chance to sign, so we definitely need to get the word out especially if 1 out of every 3 people suffer from it!

I am a KP sufferer myself but even I realize the reality of the situation.

I hope you know that online petitions are not taken very seriously, especially by scientists who holds the power within their grasp to research. Some will hate me for this, but lets be realistic. Online petition for games have gotten 20 to 30 times the votes that we have so far and I know because I just voted -#1007. Online votes do not mean jack squat. You know who reads this? Ocassionaly surfers and well-intentioned people trying to do a cheap-good-deed. No scientist who is willing to find a cure or one who is good enough to find a cure would waste their time scrowling around the Online Petitions to see who he or she can help.

This is a great start, but god damn it, this is nowhere near "enough" and I hope you guys understand this.

In a world like today where things are controled by money, politics, and media, here are more realistic ways to obtain our goal of achieving KP free lives -

1. ANYONE HERE WHO KNOWS A DOCTOR OR A SCIENTIST WHO SPECIALIZES AROUND SPECIFIC DISEASES AND GENES NEEDS TO INFORM THEIR ASSOCIATE OF KP AND FURTHERMORE GAIN THEIR ATTENTION, SYMPATHY, SUPPORT, AND DEDICATION.

2. ANYONE HERE WHO KNOWS OR HAS CONNECTIONS WITH THOSE IN THE MEDIA INDUSTRY - WHETHER IT BE MEGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS, OR THE BEST WAY - TELEVISION, PLEASE TRY TO HAVE THEM DO SOMETHING ON KP. THIS IS AMBITIOUS BUT PERHAPS SOMETHING ON A NATIONAL LEVEL WOULD BE THE BEST, LIKE 60 MINUTE LIVE, OR OTHER INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM SHOWS THAT REACH NATION WIDE.

3. ANYONE HERE WHO HAS OR KNOWS OF ANYONE WHO HAS POLITICAL INFLUENCE COULD USE THEIR CONNECTIONS TO PERHAPS PASS A NEW BILL OR A PROPOSITION THAT WILL ADVOCATE, FUND, AND OR PROMOTE AWARENESS / CURE OF KP.

The best way is to get public attention. Best ways are to hold rallies and gatherings. Lets be realistic here, not a lot of KP sufferes will want to show up in public to support for a cause that embarasses them and they want to keep secret about.

This is why a television report on KP and the different possible methods of curing KP from leading experts in an investigative journalism show that reaches nation wide audiences will be the best way to go.


Scientists who has the means to find cures will want money. This is the reality of today's world. Everyone has to make a living and while it's "nice" for scientists who can cure Keratosis Pilaris(which i'm 100% sure can be done) will want to be compensated for their time well spent so they can feed their families and themselves.

We will probably need to donate a large ass chunk of money in some way, either by someone winning the lottery or donations or funds, I don't know. All I know is money is going to be an issue and just because we are signing petitions online or doing this and that will not change the fact that today's world revolves around money.

Find a way to donate a huge chunk of money to a leading group of scientists and I guar-god-damn-tee you that they will find you a nice spiffy little cure in a couple month's time.

Anyone out there who is a millionare, believes in heaven, and is willing to donate all of his or her money for the cause?

Please do your part. I'm 17 so I don't know a lot of political or media contacts. Perhaps some of you more experienced people do. Please write e-mails to news stations.

P.S - I hope a mod doesn't delete this because of it's straight-fowardness.
