now this works

Hey all i am a 15 year old male who gets keratosis pilaris on my upper arms , over the years i have just ignored it and i thought it would just gradually go away but it hasnt so i thought i would do something about it.

So i started experimenting with things, i read all about how it is due to the skin particles not exfoliating properly and blocking the hair folicules or something along them lines, knowing this information i thought that if i could remove that blockage the condition could no longer exist as something always has to make a full link otherwise it can not work if you get my jist. So i decided that i would scrub the area with a sponge in the shower with a moisturising lotion dove shower lotion i find works best for me and i do this for about 30 secs and rubbing my arms afterwards to make sure they are smooth. I then apply just normal moisturiser (try baby oil i heere this works wonders) to the area and already just after one scrubbing and mositurizing i find it feels much smoother. I have done this for 3 weeks now and my condition, although not serious in the first place has greatly improved and now i can wear my short sleeved polo shirts what everyone has asked me to wear lol apparently i look good in them for some reason. I do not suffer any other conditions and this is the only effected area , and please do not do any of the things i have said if you have found them to effect you or irratate your skin in any ways, these are just ways i have found to help me and i am passing them on because i dont see any reason why people should have to suffer with such common but in my eyes easily treatable condition.

Hopefully this will help people ...

Exfoliating makes mine worse for some reason, even when I'm gentle and use Dove Nutrium. Easily treatable condition, I wish. I won't even get into what I and other people on this site have gone through trying to get rid of our KP. But I am soooo happy every time I hear of someone finding something that has worked for them, it gives me hope that maybe one day I'll find my "cure". Congratulations!

But I am going to try the baby oil thing starting tonight or tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Well, time will tell young buddy!

I started developing KP in a minor way, at about 19-20 years old. It was about 1993 at the time, so I really didn't have the option to "google" my condition or even the health coverage to visit a dermatologist (even though the first three I went to, never told me the exact name and I had to find out on the internet around 1998-1999, with somane clever keyword usage. Anyway, as you get older your condition might worsen and flare up. I can see the remedy you're using working, when my KP was in its infancy, as the red bumps were barely noticable. It's a whole new ballgame now, as the bumps have became more pronounce. I use Dove Nutrium with a loofah and don't notice minimal improvement, so I think a "one size fits all problem, is a little short-sided
