Hi everyone, I have been reading the board for awhile now, and have posted a few replies, but this is my first new thread. I am 26 and have had moderately severe KP on my upper arms, upper thighs and rear end since I can remember. It has always bothered me, but never enough to do anything about. After giving birth to my second child last summer I began to notice that my KP was worse than ever. I decided I was sick of hiding my arms and feeling ashamed so I found this site and tried some of the ideas. Sulpur soap with a brush did not seem to work for me. The Curel Q10 seemed to soften my bumps a little, but did not take them away. I decided to try the dermatologist.
I guess I got lucky because my derm. has KP herself. She said that I had it pretty bad, but that I could improve it quite a bit with the following regimen. She did tell me that it could take 2-3 mos to notice significant improvement. Alternating every time you shower, scrub with Glytone Exfoliating Body Wash using a Buff Puff or Clinique's Sparkle Body Scub(the one in the jar) also with the Buff Puff. She said that the Clinque is very effective as an exfoliant, but won't scratch the already sensitive skin. After the shower, apply Glytone's Body Lotion to affected area. Note if the skin is very inflamed as mine was, try starting with Amlactin 12%. She told me to use a bottle of this before starting the more potent Glytone. Basically this is the Glytone KP Kit, but replacing the pouf with a Buff Puff, and adding the use of the Sparkle Skin. I have been using the regimen for less than a month and have noticed significant difference in the smoothness of my bumps. The redness and some scarring are still present, but as time goes on they should begin to fade. Remember it can take a while to clean out the follicles. One more note...the derm said to keep out of the sun while using the Alpha Hydroxy Acids and that while the skin is inflamed scarring is more likely. Sorry so long... just wanted to share my experiences... |

I have not tried the Glytone Exfoliating Body Wash using a Buff Puff or Clinique's Sparkle Body Scub but have tried the Glytone Lotion. When I put the lotion on my legs after a shower, I felt as if my legs were on fire. Each little follicule felt like it was burning. Did you have the same experience?

I actually have yet to use the Glytone lotion. I am still working on finishing the bottle of Amlactin 12%. She advised that I wait until the bumps had started to heal and the area was less inflamed to use the Glytone. I have heard that it can still be to strong for some people. Maybe try the Amlactin, it doen't seem to bother my arms too much, just occasional stinging if I exfoliated too much. Hope this helps!
