Unhappy confessions of a picker

I'm right there too. I am always checking my arms and picking. I try so hard not to touch them but right now my arms are a mess from the out break and my picking. I just ordered some sulfur soap and found AmLactin at drugstore.com. I hope that with a combo of a diet change and adding flaxseed oil will help! UGH!

isn't this horrible?

I don't understand the difference between KP and straight-out acne because when I pick at my arms, the clogged pore comes right out as a pimple would.

The difference is w/ a pimple the pore gets infected and w/ KP dead skin builds up and covers over the hair follicle and soon after gets infected. So a pimple can be popped and cleared up because the pimple is inside of a pore that is not covered up w/ layers of skin. W/ KP we have to break down the layers of skin to get to the infection inside the hair follicle and then after try to keep the skin from building up again. Hope this helps you. Kim

I don't see much difference.....besides KP is cronic (but I guess acne maybe as well). Acne is caused by a build up of dead skin, bacteria and dirt. Neither condition has a cure, but it seems that many cases of acne are much more treatable than Kp. KP is not much different, I'm not saying that those of us with KP don't wash. I know we all do (Kp is not pimples although the causes and characteristics may be similar). It is for some heredity feature that our skin does not shed normally, and becomes cloged within the pore (causing the pimple like features because of the clogged pore). Ance is similar, but in the same sence much different. All of us with KP can differentiate with those inflicted with acne!

What I've tried & has made improvement over time: Glytone KP kit (body wash & lotion).......Sage skin care, Body loofa & body acid with glycoic acid....Murad Intensive Body treatment.....and Carmol 20 with steriod's mixed (for redness).....Retin-A and Lac Hydrin Lotion (combined)...the most improvement has been the Retin-A treatment, but it does take time for results. And they may not be significant. The other products did show improvement enough for me to get through the summer but not enough for me to be completely satisifyed. Some products seem to wor better on arms or thighs..........and I probably never stuck with any to see best improvements. I hope this info helps!

I just wanted to let anyone know who reads my prior post that I did not use all these products at once. Maybe 2 together at most...i just wanted to make sure no one did them all at once.
