Tried too many products, now have itchy rash, help!
At last there's a name for this. I've had this all my life, and I always thought it was yet another wonderful thing only fat women had.
I use a nylon scrub sponge in the shower and a moisturizer, usually either Avon Skin-so-soft or one of the Vaseline Intensive Care lotions after showering. My KP is different in that it's actually better in the winter than summer....except when I'm in the Caribbean, when I'm in salt or chlorinated water much of the time and always smearing something on myself, up to 4-5 times a day. So I visited this site as well as some others, and got some UltraMide lotion. Unfortunately, I didn't use exclusively this; I was also smearing baby oil (also recommended) and my usual lotion. And then I went for a bike ride yesterday and got a little bit of sunburn. So now instead of just KP I have this itchy red rash on my arms that feels hot and I'm smearing constantly. My guess is it's the UltraMide, but I can't be sure. With all the recommendations and nothing proven, how can I get rid of this darn rash and what on earth can I use that might work? |

Itchy rash
Sounds like a mild sunburn coupled with irritation. I'd recommend an oatmeal lotion, like what Aveeno makes. They also make an oatmeal bath. Wal-Mart sells a generic Equate product like the Aveeno oatmeal lotion.
Good luck! jrsmith13 |

I'm sure the oatmeal stuff would work, and be cheaper, but another suggestion is a cream that clinique makes, its called "exceptionally soothing cream for upset skin" I got it really cheap from ebay (hehe) so I decided to give it a try and used it on my really itchy arms the other day. It worked instantly and since it has hydrocortizone in it, I think it helped some of the redness too. Hope you feel better soon!
