KP areas?
The things I've read about KP, they always say it's in specific areas. I find that mine is not in these areas, is anyone else's KP a rebel? lol. Basicly mine is sporaticly all over my legs, the worst being the back of my legs and sides of my knees(well used to, I got that part clear!). The front of my theighs which they say is where people usually have it is where I have it the least. Does anyone know why KP appears in certain areas and not others?

I've found the same thing happens to me also. My standard places are my upper arms and backs of thighs, but the kp flares up in other areas as well. About 3 years ago it was bad on my lower arms and mostly went away. Now I have it terrible on my lower legs, especially on the front and ankle area. Shorts are out of the question for me and I cannot figure out why my kp flares up in different areas.

Well, this is my first post. I have been trying to figure out what to do about this horrible skin disorder.
When I was a kid, I just got it on the backs of my arms. Everyone thought it was a heat rash. The older I get (34) the worse it gets and the more it seems to spread. Now I have it on my upper arms, inner knees, back/front of thighs and the worst place is my butt! That just happened over the last few years and it is so embarrasing. Nothing I have tried so far has worked. My dermo perscribed the Carmol 40 and it SUCKS! I feel so sticky after I apply it that I no longer feel clean. It also hasn't done a thing. My wife and I are expecting our first child next week and I pray to God that he doesn't get this ****. My wife has beautiful olive Italian skin, so I hope he is blessed with her skin genes. Any remedy suggestions are welcomed. I will say that as a man, I am less inclined to slather lotion all over myself 2x a day. It's a pain in the rear. I'm more likely to use that Sulfur soap and a lotion 1x a day. But these creams/lotions like Carmol or AmLactin make me feel like I have just finished working out and the sweat has dried on my skin - I hate that sticky feeling. I'm glad I found this board and I hope that we can all find some relief from this nightmare. |

Yeah, I don't put lots of lotion on either, I do it like once a day, I'm just too lazy to do a whole routine
What I do is use a buff puff in the shower (men use it too, don't be afraid to) with either Dove or Aveeno body scrub on it, and rub it hard. Then right after I get out, put on Vaseline Healthy Body Complextion (it's exfoliating). Doing this has helped some, not totally though. I just ordered sulphur soap today, and I'm thinking of trying This since it has both BHA and moisturizer in it, that way you don't need to do 2 lotions seperatly. |

fishnets,
Thanks for the post. I'm going to get some Sulfur soap as well. I hope it doesn't stink too bad. I looked at that Paula's Page and $14 for 4oz seems a bit steep. I need to use this stuff all over my body and 4oz will go fast. I swear, we can put a man on the moon but we can't cure the common cold or KP! Doesn't it seam like moden medicine has come to a screeching halt in terms of cures? When was the last time Dr's really cured anything - Polio? I think there is more money to be made in treating than curing. |

I'm right there with you
Throcky - I know what you're going through. See my new post today for background. I'm at the point where I tend to try to ignore it most of the time - emphasis on TRY. I'm pretty active, and I hate having to slather stuff on all the time and spend time scrubbing in the shower, but maybe some of these techniques will actually help. I know exactly how you feel about the cure - it's such an insignificant thing, it seems like there should be a simple solution, especially considering what the medical profession can do these days. Maybe increased exposure through outlets like this website will start to open some eyes in the derm community. It's obvious there's plenty of patients in need!
