Retin-a

For those of you who've had success w/ Retin-A, which formulation do you use? I've heard the the cream formulations contain acnegenic ingredients, but not the Retin-A micro.

I'm going to a new derm next week and want to request something specifically.

My old derm insisted the KP was eczema and gave me steroid cream, which did help w/ the redness.

I have GOT to stop picking - it makes it so much worse.

by the way, I'm new.

Amy

hi amy!
good luck at your derm next week. we have not tried retin a so i can't help you with that. but, i can maybe help with this....
don't pick! keep in mind, if you don't pick, it won't look worse, and that may help with the redness also.
best of luck,
molsmom

some interesting things have been posted about the prescription creme Tazorac, so you might mention it to your derm. please let us know if she/he has any helpful suggestions or recommendations!
good luck,
addy

Years ago I used Retin-A gel mixed with LacHydrin lotion. I have to say my KP looked a lot better back then. I applied the combo twice a day - I should really ask my Derm to give it to me again. I haven't really been using anything for the past few months and the KP seems worse than ever. Also, you could ask you derm about using retin-a micro and Carmol 20 mixed with a mild steriod cream (for redness) - this is what I was prescribed at my last visit but insurance wouldn't pay for the retin-a so I never got a chance to try it. I did try the Carmol 20 and it makes your skin really soft. Good luck!

i have a retin-A (.01%), hydrocortison (2.5%), hydroquinone (4%) compound that works pretty well on my upper arms.

for some reason, it doesn't work on my thighs
