Shaving is a big problem for me! (males)
Shaving is really a big problem for me. Since my skin is very dry, although I use shaving foams containing moisturizing additives, shaving causes irritation and hurts a lot. Is there anybody sharing the same problem?

Well I'm not a guy so I don't shave my face
But do you put moisturizer on after you shave? That will help with the irritation. |

Do you have keratosis pilaris rubra faceii? Do you have redness on your cheeks and flush easily? I have this and it makes it impossible to shave. I can't shave without my face becoming extremely red and flushed and to the point where it starts burning up. My face doesn't respond well to any shaving creams. It makes it really tough to shave knowing it gets so incredibly irritated every time.

Use an electric razor!
I have KPRF, and find that after a wet shave my skin burns like mad. I simply cannot shave in this way anymore.
My solution was to buy an electric razor that provided a shave that wasn't too close. The closer the shave, the more irritated my skin gets, so an electric razor leaving only a little stubble leads to barely any irritation. Try it. Another advantage is purely economic. In general, the more expensive the electric razor the closer the shave. So buy a cheapish razor and enjoy a 5-o-clock shadow at all times! Not only does it a) lead to less irritation; it also b) disguises the redness, particularly if you're dark-haired like me; and c) annoys traditional grandparents who bark on about how nice clean-cut young men are ![]() |
