Hi..my 18 month old has KP. As far as I know, the scarring is mostly caused by picking at the bumps and trying to remove the plugged follicles. Don't pick. My son saw a dermatologist who recommended LacHydrin. I've yet to see much improvement. Keep your child's skin well moisturized and use a terrycloth washcloth to help exfoliate. A 15 month old's skin is probably too sensitive for the types of exfoliators that many people on this site use. Good luck.
