How wonderful to find a website dedicated to this topic! I've had this condition for as long as I can remember. As a teen my mother took me to the family doctor about it. He treated my arms.(I guess it wasn't quite as bad on my face as it is now.) He gave me some sort of gel that I would rub on the upper arms, THEN wrap my arms in saran wrap overnight. In the morning I would have to wash it off and apply A&D ointment(yuck). It seemed to help somewhat, but such a pain to go through everyday and night. Anyone else ever have to do this? (I am 38, so was in my teens in late 70's/early 80's). In my twenties living at the beach did wonders for this condition! The sand exfoliating my skin, constantly putting oil on my skin, and yes the sun seems to help (or hide) the condition. After showering I used NEUTROGENA Body Oil, which I still use and have found that to be a great skin smoother. It's my face I cannot seem to help. It's always red and bumpy. Never do I see a smooth clear face. A few years ago I purchased some Vitamin C serum (Skinceuticals) and noticed a visible difference! However, these potions are very costly. Has anyone been to the dermatologist and received products that will actually do the trick? How about over the counter or home remedy stuff? note: i am of irish/german/british decent...have noticed lots of folks from these countries have this condition, too.
