They both contain the same active ingredient, 12% Lactic Acid. One is RX only, LacHydrin, the other is OTC. Personally, I always liked the LacHydrin cream and find it more effective than the lotion. I have tried AmLactin lotion, and it is comparable to the LacHydrin, though I didn't find it as effective for some reason that I don't understand. Must have something to do with the inactive ingredients I guess.
