Remember that keralyt is a gel (one phase – no emollients). Ideally, you'd want to have the active (salicylic) in combination with emollients, which would help prevent over drying/flaking. Also, Keralyt has excess solvent (21% alcohol), which promotes dehydration. Let it sit for a while before applying (to let excess alcohol evaporate)- Peeling is an indicator of an overly aggressive approach for your specific skin type. Try alternating with a moisturizer or “buffering” keralyt’s strength by mixing it with either a simple moisturizer or an “active” moisturizer like lachydrin or carmol, etc. If you mix (like Debra suggested) 1 part of keralyt with 1 part of carmol 20, you will be adding emollients (that keralyt lacks) to the overall formula while reducing the % by weight of the sal acid. You said you are following with hydrocortisone… you can also buffer keralyt with hydrocortisone cream. Depending on the type you are using, this will also add emollients to your compound which should benefit your particular case. Good luck!!
