My son is 14 mos. old and has had KP on his thighs since he was 6 mos. old. Since then it has only gotten worse and has spread down his legs. In public people snear "what's that?". His peditrician (and others in the group) have used big words and told me that there was nothing I could do, don't worry about it, he'll grow out of it, etc. One doctor finally prescribed Lubriderm with Kenolog which hasn't really helped. Some doctors call it Eczema but Justin's peditrician told me today that its KP. I've been researching to find out what I can. I'm puzzled by several facts. One, it is hereditary but neither my husband nor I have KP. Two, dry, cold climates irritate it. We live in Houston, TX where it is very warm and very humid! Several weeks ago I made an appointment for Justin to see a dermatologist. Unfortunately the earliest appointment I could find is two months away. I would like some help in the mean time. From my research today I gather that there aren't any products at the local drug store that would help. They all seem to be special products. Does anyone have any advice until we see a dermatologist? He has short baths in luke-warm water using Cetaphil soap, I put lotion on twice a day including right after his bath, I wash is clothes in Dreft. What else can I do???
