my derm suggested i use la roche-posay lipkar washing gel and moisturizer which kind of helped, i use it every day 2-3 times a day (i wash and then moisturize). i also have been using zeniak lotion and i use a scrub every day in the shower. i have this clinique soap (bar) for oily skin that i also use on my arms.
also i have been using a steroid cream that my derm said i should only use for 5 days (been using that for over a months now... it really does help though!!)
so what i have now is just a few bumps that are not really that visible. but that's not all of it... since i have been picking at my kp for a long time, thinking it was pimples, i have a few red dots from that and also tiny brown spots.. i also suffer from redness... what do i do? does anyone have tips for me or knows any products that may help? i would appreciate it!

I have had what i now know is called KPRF for at least 16/17 years. Im 30 now, and only just yesterday was able to put a name to my red cheeks !!! I have mild red spots on upper arms/legs and side of my torso but its my face that ****es me off the most.

When im warm and inside/or lack of fresh air my cheeks react - Some of the kprf pics on this site are pretty much identical to what i have. I dont think i have it as bad as others but still affects me and i think holds me back.

I have read over the last day or so about various creams, treatments etc to help, there seems to be no ideal treatment as each person and case is differant, is this a fair assumption ?

Ive never seen a dermatologist, would you recceomend seeing one ?

Okay so I've been having obvious keratosis pilaris since... maybe 13? 7th grade during Christmas break when I had my first period.

But before that, all I had was bumpy skin but no red dots or anything so I don't know why I had it since puberty.
But anyways, after I found out what happened I decided to research on it and figured it out what I should do for my keratosis pilaris. I've been using these couple of products every night.

I use Aveeno foam cleanser w/ salicylic acid for body and face (great help for acne too) during warm showers

Then when I pat my skin dry I use CVS skin body treatment body lotion with Alpha-Hydroxy formula w/ latic acid. (It "suppose" to exfoliates dead skin cells, hydrate and restore lost moisture)

After that drys (it can be very sticky) I use Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer with salicylic acid blemish treatment

It has help me tremendously! The keratosis pilaris in back of my arms decreased a lot! (I've been using this routine for months now)
only small bumps remain, no redness and it help my legs too. There are a few large patches on my legs, thighs and forearm that is skin clear and my leg became very smooth.

But I'm having some difficulties with KP, sometimes it just reacts a lot, like suddenly my legs are flared up with keratosis pilaris when I stand up, but when I sit down or lay in my bed it just becomes normal! (Not all the time)
Also, on my legs there is dark brown dots it's smooth but its just the appearance which puzzles me.
And the back of my leg cannot be healed, its like all tiny little red dots jumbled up together :/ what should I do?

*Also with the CVS lotion, usually you "shed" skin and sometimes it burns. When I shed with the lotion usually it's this small hard thing that comes off

but :help:

Hello, My name is Kyle and I am a 13 year old male who lives in Texas. About A month ago I woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed I had red, bumpy areas on my cheeks. Figuring I just slept funny, I took my shower and expected my skin to return to normal. Obviously, this didn't happen. So I went about my day with my red bumpy face. A few weeks ago I went to a dermatologist. He said that I have KP. I have like 5 tiny skin colored bumps on each arm, but the killer is my face. I have red going up my side burn areas down to my jaw line then out a few inches to my eye. That is on the left cheek. The right cheek has a tiny kp circle on my jaw line, and a tiny kp circle under my eye. The red was very obvious, and I was SO self-conscious about it. I would ask my friends their opinion on it, but they hardly noticed it. Even my girlfriend said that she didn't notice it.
To treat the problem, I have started using the eucerin redness relief daily perfecting lotion SPF 15. I wasn't sure how well this would work considering the mixed reviews on this site. I have been using it for 6 days now, and it has cleared about 40% of the redness. I am happy for that. I also use glycholic pads for the bumps which have helped some. So I am quite happy at my results.
Now here is my question. How could I have just randomly gotten this condition? My mom has eczema, but other than that, my family has no skin conditions. My diet is good, besides my love for caffeine. I love soda and chocolate, but keep them in regulation. I do sleep with a fan on my nightstand about a foot away from my face. It is on high settings all the time, and it stays on all day and all night. I have had a fan on when I sleep for 8 years.
With my KP, (or KPRF) I never flush or blush. I just get goosebumps on the red bumpy areas whenever the rest of my body gets goosebumps.
I hope this information helps, any feedback is greatly appreciated, and If you want pictures posted, just ask. :)

Hi everyone

New to this forum. Discovered it whilst searching for a UK stockist of dermadoctors KP duty.
It saddens me that so many people on here get so upset by their KP, even to the point of discussing suicide.
I have had KP as long as I can remember, I am now in my late 30's.
I don't wish to be controversial on my first post but I really don't think it's that much of a bad thing. My KP is pretty unsightly on my arms: red dots all over both arms and bumps on the upper arms, and I have red dots on my legs too with a few thigh bumps.
I admit I do feel a little self conscious sometimes but I wear what I want and just ignore it. I have had a couple of 'oh, what's that rash are you allergic to something' comments but then most people have not heard of KP so they learn something when I explain what it is.

There are far worse skin conditions to have than KP ( I have a friend who has really bad psoriasis), it's benign and in the grand scheme of things, a minor inconvenience in my life.

KP duty works for me but I rarely use it as you can't find it in the UK and it's super expensive
but I am an (aging!) Bridesmaid soon and I want to pretty my arms up a bit so will need to bite the bullet and order from the US.

To be honest, usually I don't even exfoliate and just use regular body lotion. My skin is ugly but it's never had much of an impact on my life. My fiancé has noticed it but doesn't care as my skin is part of what makes me, me.

I guess what I am trying to say is please don't let it get you down or change your behaviour. Love the skin you're in ladies, bumps and all.

Laser treatment is to costly for me so could anyone tell me like a home remidy or something that worked for them.

My one year old has KP on her cheeks. Her derm has put her on differin applied every other day. We apply it in the morning, because if we put it on at night she rubs it in her eyes. I am aware that it can take approximately three months to work, so I am trying to be patient. Lately (week three) she has broken out in more inflammed red bumps, and about every day, one of her KP bumps becomes inflammed with a white head, which I assume pops at some point. Is this the medicine doing its job? I know differin can cause something similar with acne, and I would just like to hear something from someone who has used differin that can tell me if this is a normal part of the treatment. If so, I will just put up with it. Regardless, I am on the cancellation list at the derm's office, but I'm not sure how much faith I have in him at this point. Other than the differin, we use cetaphil wash and lotion. She has not had any issues with drying, but we keep her pretty greased up.
