pretty poor diet

Hi friends, I am a generally healthy 38year-old female with a pretty poor diet due to trying to keep my weight down. I suffer from anemia, but iron pills and vitamins don't seem to be the best way to raise my hemoglobin. I would rather do it by eating a healthy diet. So have anyone any idea of some healthy diet? If so please let me know urgently. Thank you.

Re: pretty poor diet

CS,

You need three meals a day, high in protein and vegetables, low in sugar. Your carbohydrates should be whole grains, for example brown rice, whole wheat flour bread. Other healthy grains are quinoa, amaranth and unhulled barley, though I don't know if you can buy them where you live. Also, eat healthy oils, like olive oil, and foods high in essential fatty acids (EFA's), like tinned sardines, salmon, freshly ground flax seeds and walnuts.

If you eat a healthy diet and exercise, it is possible you would not have a problem with being overweight.

Re: pretty poor diet

Take diet with high iron, high protein and low sugar. Take vegetables - fresh ones are better. Reduce potato intake.

Re: pretty poor diet

If you have iron-deficiency anemia that does not respond to supplements you should speak with a gastro-enterologist about malabsorption issues. iron-deficiency anemia that does not respond to supplements is a common possible symptom of celiac disease. If you have both the deficiency and KP, it may be well worth looking into.
