proactiv anyone?
i recently just used the 30 day trial proactiv.....
holy ****. the first night was okay but the next day (i put some on the morning too..) during the night i started to get reallly itchy on my face.. then when i took a shower, and took my makeup off, OMG all these gross, itchy bumps were there. then the next day, my skin started to peeeeeeelll like crazy. plus the bumps. it practically has 3/4 of my face peeling and all rash-y. by that night, it hurt and itched to put any kind of lotion. for the next two days(ish) my skin's been sooooo sensitive and (still) peeling.but its getting better ugh. has proactiv worked for anyone here? |

yeah i used procactive before on my face and it cleared all my little pimples i didn't have many but it bothered me enough. It made my face nice n smooth and not dry or oily. The bad thing was when i ran out of it i didn't have any money at the time to buy more so all my little pimple came back.

i guess proactive isn't for someone who has sensitive skin?

I thought proactive was just for acne? Since this isn't really acne, it probably won't work too well. Also, acne is caused by oily skin. KP is because of dry skin. Something that probably dries out skin more (proactive) could make it worse?

no proactive is suppose to balance out ur skin. that's why it has the three steps. little scuber lotion, then the cleanser and then u put the lotion on ,so ur skin doesn't dry out. but i wouldn't waste my money on proactive for my whole body becuz it's really expensive if ur gunna use it for large areas. also once u run out ur skin like within like a day gets all gross again. that's what happen to me when i used it for my face becuz i had a tiny bit of acne.

if its supposed to balance out the skin, why would it peel like, half your face off?

Hey! Well for all you ppl out there with really really sensitive skin i feel your pain. I also started to use proactive probably two years ago and it made my face burn... I called up procative to tell them that it didn't work for my skin type and they sugested the sensitive proactive. I have been using it and it works wonders! I thought I had the most sensitive skin out there... sometimes even baby sun screen burns my skin, so hey it might be worth a try. Although, I haven't used the proactive on my Kp, but it may be worth a try... just maybe- hope that helps

Hi,
Thought I would add my experiences with this. I have mild inflammatory acne and severe non-inflammatory acne (millions of blackheads, some actual pimples and whiteheads sometimes). Cysts: I would also sometimes get cysts/boils. These are the hard, painful, usually pus-filled lumps that develop deep under the skin. A follicle will get clogged, sealed off, and then this fluid will start accumulating, causing redness, pain, and pressure. Sometimes, you can tap the follicle by poking or s****ing it --- Jeez, this is getting disgusting. I didn't mean for it to go this way --- Anyway, I'm sure you guys have experienced this. If you can get the follicle tapped, you can press down around it, and cause all the fluid to come out and drain at the surface, relieving the pressure and infection. But other times, it is tightly sealed off, and the cyst will stay in there for a week or so and then slowly shrink and go away. That is damn annoying because there is no way to relieve the pain and pressure. It just has to heal on its own. I would get these on my nose and chin sometimes. I had heard that Proactiv was good for mild acne like this, so I tried it. It was a while ago, so I'm trying to remember. I think it came with a scrub and a lotion type of thing. The scrub was grainy and had some Benzoyl peroxide in it. The lotion has even more. It caused a drying and tightening effect; I remember that distinctly. Apparently, this stuff can have an exfoliating effect, so that could be why you got the peeling. I never got the peeling, but it did start to cause some minor redness, so obviously it was removing some layers. It really did clean out my pores- all my blackheads and acne disappeared in a couple weeks. My skin took on this totally different look. I can't explain it, but it was kind of a "glow" ? It was weird. It's hard to remember now, but it was not exactly inflammation, and not painful, but my skin did look darker somehow. Other people noticed it, too. I was rather happy about the results, but then, I started developing cystic acne all over my chin and jaw. Instead of one, I had about five at once, and even more started developing. So somehow, the Proactiv was causing this clogging and backup, and none of these cysts would drain. I hated it (I can't stand them), so I went off the proactiv. I found out later that people with albino, sensitive skin are not supposed to use Proactiv. So, maybe that is why it caused such problem for me, since I have no natural color in my skin, being albino type. I've never even heard of Proactiv Sensitive formula. Interesting. |
